Re: Joe E Tata, who appeared in various episodes, has passed away

R.I.P. to Mr. Tata. Maybe the only henchman to return in all three seasons? Ring of Wax, Hizzoner The Penguin and I'll Be A Mummy's Uncle. The admin on a Batman '66 Facebook group I belong to pointed out that Gil Perkins appeared in all three seasons and the feature film. He wasn't always credited, ...

Re: Bruce Timm's BATMAN CAPED CRUSADER Loses it's home...

I truly value Bruce Timm's contributions to the Batman universe—BTAS is a longstandinging favorite, and the shadings he and Paul Dini added to characters like Mr. Freeze and Two-Face are as good as any versions of those characters ever, IMHO. Harley Quinn as originally conceived was a great characte...

Re: Looking for Lord Marmaduke Ffogg Pipe info

$.02 worth of speculation: I'd guess the Pipe of Fog was a mashup of a more than one pipe. More specifically, the portion of the pipe between the two metallic rings looks like it was stuck onto an existing pipe. That extension held a smoke cartridge that was presumably larger and/or burned hotter th...

Re: Where was this video clip taken from?

In 1976 the Batman series re-aired in Britain for the first time since its cancellation (and season 3 aired for the first time ever, since the BBC or whoever apparently gave up on the show before ABC did). The reruns were a huge hit. Adam, in big demand on a promotional tour, cut a quickie single re...

Re: Danger Zone Graphics 1/6 Batmobile kit out

Interesting approach. Unlike most car models, the pieces don't correspond to actual parts and components. It's as if they took the car and sliced it crosswise into five or six segments (a size limit imposed by a 3D-printing process, I suspect). You must glue the pieces together, hide the seams, pain...

Re: FIBERGLASS FREAKS RAIDED!!

Cronyism, abuse of power (not to mention public funds) and harassment. It's probably not Mark's natural inclination, but I hope he fights back hard in court, and that this petulant man-brat with everything is reminded what it means to lose big. "The Batmobile: We'll have to have it fumigated.&q...

Re: High C Has Passed Away

Hi, all. High C's real name was indeed J.P. Pelzman, and he was a well-respected sportswriter. Before posting his obituary, I consulted with epaddon to be sure there's no reason J.P. wouldn't want to be "outed" as the name behind the High C board alias. Here's his obituary from Newsday , o...

Re: High C Has Passed Away

This is tragic news. I had lots of lively exchanges with High C over the years, and we swapped some bat-trivia behind the scenes as well. As things go with fandom, we didn't always agree about everything, but debates were always in good fun. Condolences to epaddon and all who knew him off-board, and...

Re: Cartoons that reference Batman '66

Trying to jog my memory on the title of Aardman Animation's CGI movie Flushed Away, which has a fun extended salute to "our" Batman, I came across a pretty long list of potential references. Many are spoofs/homages to 1989 Batman, but there seem to be quite a few 1966 references as well.

Re: SCRIPT: True or False Face

The aired episode was near perfect, but I felt it would have inched over the finish line into TV perfection if it retained the outline's ending with False Face escaping (disguised as the bank president). I write this not with any wish that it would have set up a second arc for the villain, but it w...

Re: SCRIPT: True or False Face

I found it interesting that scriptwriter Stephen Kandel included Inspector Basch in the False Face treatment. I wonder if Kandel was working off a series "bible" that was later updated to reflect the elimination of the Basch character or, perhaps more likely, if Kandel had seen the pilot (...

Thanks for the kind words, Andy. I've certainly enjoyed my interactions with you, and I appreciate your artistic talents and insights, your niche-y knowledge of serials and other cool stuff, and your thoughts on our favorite TV series. I've never met any folks here on the board in real life, and I o...

Re: Remembering a Friend from the 1966 Bat Board. Rip Leon

So sad when we lose a friend, for the benefit of those of us who only know screen names, maybe when we're doing one of these "In Memory Of" posts we could include the members screen name? Maybe an identifier with photos too- I don't know which one is Leon. I think those are great suggesti...

Familiar "Guest Villain" in Dick Tracy comic strip

Over the last month, the Dick Tracy comic strip began a story arc involving "Mr. Memory," a cybercriminal who'd previously appeared only in William Dozier's unsold Dick Tracy TV pilot . Victor Buono played Mr. M in the pilot, and he's unmistakably the model for the character now appearing ...

Re: Universal Antidote prop

The Bat-chewables are great! When Batman first aired, they were hocking Chocks chewable vitamins on every kiddie TV show (Captain Kangaroo, e.g.). Chocks were sweet and colorful but shaped like boring little blocks. Flintstones Chewables, a direct descendant of Chocks, didn't arrive until later (in ...
