Adam West & Bob Kane judging the 1980 Miss USA Pageant

The recent ABC 25th Anniversary post made me recall this, In 1980 Adam West & Bob Kane were judges in the 1980 Miss USA Pageant. The whole thing is on YOUTUBE. I saw it back then, and was tremendously excited to see them. I remember thinking -- still being basically a kid -- he could still play ...

Re: Batman and Robin vs Pirates

As someone just mentioned on the board, they didn't act that thrilled, but at the end, they took a bow. I remember that special--and I too wonder why Adam & Burt were so..down. They appeared to be disappointed, or perhaps embarrassed. Someone should ask A & B if they have any worthwhile mem...

Re: New T.V. Series for Batman 1966

I think the general consensus was that the 2012 Three Stooges movie far surpassed most stooge fans extremely low expectations. It was made by the Farrell Brothers (Dumb & Dumber) -- and five minutes into it, it was so funny I forgot these guys weren't the real Moe, Larry and Curly! It was respec...

Re: Batman and Robin vs Pirates

The newly filmed sequences were very nice! I'd like to know the story behind them, but I doubt we ever will, unless someone involved comes forward. The ninja bit was very very good! But I really disliked the clips they chose to represent 'Batman'. It made it seem like nothing but a comedy show.

Re: Newmar: Joan Collins played it too straight

The Siren episode, I thought, was incredibly well done. Adam West got in a lot of cowl-less time, which he tended to love, and Robin & Batgirl actually showed a bit of chemistry together. And Joan Collins as the Siren really worked in a surreal 3rd season kind of way. Her character was a nice th...

Re: Is the Tim Burton Batman on it's Way to Being Forgotten

The final arbitrator. The 1989 is getting 72% on the "Rotten Tomatoes" site, which tends to be "the voice of the people" as far as movie reviews online are concerned, and Batman 1966 gets 79%. :) Fantastic. These numbers would have been waaaay different 10 years ago. And the 1966...

Re: Retrobites Batman Action on set

That is fantastic!!! Thank you! The interviewer, Fletcher Markle, I remember from a really great show on Alfred Hitchcock I found on dvd a couple of years ago. It seems to be on youtube now, but overdubbed in German.

Re: Bat theme song used on Fantasy Island

Thank you! I've watch a lot of Fantasy Island -- I can't believe I missed it and had never heard about it! Odd, they did a Batman homage on Gilligan's Island too with ZAP! POW! effects! Somehow 'Gilligan' was able to afford the first season type effects without resorting to cutting away to them like...

Re: BATMAN OR GREEN HORNET COSTUME ????

The Bat suit in live action from the 1943 right up until today has always had design flaws. It's never been done perfectly like say the Chris Reeve Superman suit, or the recent Captain America. The cape on the 60's suit hid the broadness of Adam West's shoulders, and made him sometimes appear paunch...

Re: What would batman been like if 4th Season

The people at DC Comics/Warner Brothers had to redefine Batman for the 1970's and beyond, and sadly, the Adam West iteration, great as it is, was better suited for the 1960s, before we found about stuff like Kent State, Watergate, 9/11 and so on. Certainly, that just happens. Time marches on. The 8...

Re: What would batman been like if 4th Season

Since they wanted to use Batman as a lead-in to Tarzan, I'm assuming the tone would've become more serious. In my opinion, if the writing had improved the cheap sets would not have mattered. You'd never get the beautiful textured look of the first season again, but if they'd managed to get some youn...

Re: Just 2 seasons of Batman

Nice topic!!! The Archer being the 2nd season opener was quite a drop in quality. Season 3 definitely. And actually 'Cat & the Fiddle', I'd have to say seaon 3. Eartha Kitt may as well have done it. The Minstrel- season 1, The Clock king-season 1 (wonderful epidode!), The Penguin for mayor episo...

Re: Third season corrections

Way too many characters. By the time Gordon & O'Hara did their stuff, and Alfred the suddenly unfaithful butler powwowed in glorious cahoots with Batgirl, and a few ridiculous oddly named peripheral characters did their unfunny comedy bits, there was very little screen time left for ... what's t...

Nancy Sinatra! Interesting. Julie London had a great face & figure like Joan. I saw her on an old 'Jack Benny' recently. :) Whooo! I'm surprised they didn't use Peggy Lee, or ... Ethel Merman. Yikes.

Batman with that monosyllabic blue collar Boston accent? He'd be WAY better off British!!
