Re: Is it true that Van Williams.....
Yes, it is true, and this is indicated on IMDB.com. However, President Johnson's name is never mentioned, and I always took it to mean that it was simply "The President," with the implication that it was LBJ.

Re: Ra's al Ghul in the 60's
Ra's al Ghul might not have been the best fit for the series at that time, and there really was a difference in the pop culture between 1965-66, when the show aired, and 1971, when the character debuted. Things would not start to become darker until the end of the 1960s. That said, Basil Rathbone w...

Re: Actors an Actresses in Batman and....
We had some crossover between Batman , The Green Hornet and The FBI : [list][*]Lee Meriwether played Inspector Lewis Erskine's love interest in Season 1, and had guest appearances in 1968 and 1971; [*]Anne Baxter played a kidnap victim in "Region of Peril," airing 25 February 1968, when B...

Re: Re-Used Material or Sets
Reuse of sets and costumes would stand to reason, as it helps to cut costs. This was common with TV shows, in order to cut costs. And that was especially important for Batman, given its budgetary demands.

Re: Who would you pick to play Poison Ivy?
Poison Ivy made her debut in the Batman comic book in June 1966, during the run of the First Season. Yes, it would have been great had she been able to be in the show. Had she, Tina Louise would be my first pick, but I would also have considered Raquel Welch, Jane Fonda, Luciana Paluzzi (maybe) and...

This is a seriously cool ad!!! I find it unreal that Bob Kane was at Macy's at that time! Very typical of Macy's to do this, and I know, having worked there from 2000 to 2011. Do you have a larger image of this that I could get? Thank you in advance!!!

Susan Silo herself is 70, so her mother being 91 sounds reasonable. RIP Ms. Silo!clavierankh wrote:Sad.
91, she was older than I thought.

Happy Birthday to Calamity Jan!!
Dina Merrill, who played the moll Calamity Jan, is celebrating a birthday today! Born Nedenia Marjorie Hutton on 29 October 1923 in New York, Ms. Merrill was married to the late Cliff Robertson (Shame) when she did her episodes on Batman and was clearly one good things about Season 3!! She has done...

Re: Positive thoughts on 3rd Season
I rather liked Batgirl myself, as well as the snappier Billy May music! Shame's outing was a little interesting, and of course, there was the Eartha Kitt Catwoman!

Re: Villains and Characters from the Comics
While the original Batgirl made her debut in 1961, the Barbara Gordon version came about because DC Comics approached William Dozier about creating a character who could work with Batman, since Catwoman had proved so popular. The 1966 series had a direct impact on the comics. And THAT character has...

Re: So were any of the 66 villians destined to be awful?
I find Milton Berle hard to watch in just about everything, but I also agree with Andy's "Big Miss" assessment on Louie as a character. A "normal" Gotham crime lord would have been a good addition to the villain mix, but to be a worthy bat-adversary, he'd need some kind of edge....

Definitely inspired!!
This would make for a great cliffhanger had the episode been set in the northern woods!
