Re: TO THE BATPOLES #165: Mr. Freeze(s)

It seems like the second season Freeze was an entirely different villain. It's like the original Freeze is gone and a new one took his place. It's a metaphor for the show and the decline from a good mix of comedy and adventure to goofy "sitcom" to self-parody. Sanders=1st Season Preminger...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #165: Mr. Freeze(s)

I got around to watching Deep Freeze and was surprised to see Nellie Majors again, though now I really feel it was a mistake to not have her "eat her words" by the end, just slot her into Gordon's office. I realize it would complicate filming a bit, I can see why they didn't do it; I just ...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #165: Mr. Freeze(s)

Which Freeze do you like best? Otto's episode is the most fun to watch despite all the "WILD"s and eyebrow rubbing. Besides False Face Green Ice is the closest the show came to horror with Freeze zapping Gordon and O'Hara. It's pretty disturbing between Freeze's surreal appearance in the ...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #164: "The Curse of Tut" scripts: Rondeau and Buono improve on Dennis and Barret

This time, we discuss two different versions of the Curse of Tut script, and how much changed after the "final" version. Holy Dramatic Radio Drama! Nice editing with the music. The domino mask and black suit bit was funny. Interesting when you note how the Batmobile scene doesn't feel lik...

Re: Adam in "Cartoon Lost & Found"

Since it's Nick at Night, it was presumably aimed at adults. In the '80s, Nick at Night was showing a lot of '60s TV shows too -- Donna Reed, Patty Duke, Car 54. The cartoons we get clips of in this show would scratch the same nostalgia itch for the same demographic. Ah, okay that makes sense. Stil...

A new (?) Bat-blog I just found

Apologies if this is common knowledge, never seen this one before.

Seems it's a blog dedicated to the show, haven't gotten too into it but figured I could post the links:

How the Dynamic Duo could've defeated Siren

I don't know if this has ever been suggested before and I know the show had few nods to continuity but...I think it would've been neat if Batman had used an adapted form of Catwoman's Voice-Stealing Device to render Siren powerless.

Re: Adam in "Cartoon Lost & Found"

It has its moments, but ultimately, since they weren't showing entire cartoons, I'm not sure what the point was. What a strange & interesting find. I think the opening is all wrong for a children's show, the tracking shot of the guy's shoes is menacing while an orphanage for abandoned cartoons ...

Hello fellows, A very thorough discussion on the script, well done. I may have more commentary on the overall focus but had to immediately respond to both agree and vent about Snyder's Batman v. Superman. SPOILERS FROM HERE ON OUT. It's clearly the worst interpretation of the character, missing ever...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #162: Lego Batman is Every Batman

A couple years ago I gave the Lego Batman a shot and quickly realized it wasn't for me. While I get why so many liked this movie a lot of the humor didn't connect. Batman in his "Hugh Hefner" robe struck a wrong note for me, while Robin came across too "twee"; he made Burt Ward's...

Congratulations! I wish you the best of luck with your series.

Also I saw on your "the beard" page it looks like your bat-books are coming back in some way or other, so kudos to that as well.

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #161: A Joker for All Seasons

...to my gushing on and on about The Joker. Which I can do at the drop of a cowl. It's understandable, Cesar's perfomance is great, I pretty much enjoy nearly every Joker episode across all three seasons, even when he plays second fiddle to Catwoman. I think he's my favorite version of the characte...

Re: TO THE BATPOLES #160: Bat-rankings

FWIW, in terms of undoing her control, the original draft had a line that Siren's spell wore off in 12 hours. Hence, that's why Alfred said the dose of Bat-sleep on the Commish was approximately 12 hours' worth. Ah, okay. That's a good built-in limitation for the character even if it didn't make it...
