If the 1967 interview is too small, here's a larger copy.

Re: Fourth Season Myth
Here's a fascinating interview with Adam from the Philadelphia Inquirer on January 15, 1967. He talks about his approach to the role and his future. It's worth noting this was done when the show was struggling in the ratings, especially on Wednesday nights. Batman-Adam-West-interview.gif Thanks to t...

Re: Fourth Season Myth
John, thanks for sharing your stories. I got to know Adam pretty well from 1984 to the early 90's when I lived in LA. I was working for Jerry Lewis and helped Adam get copies of his various TV appearances, including Dean Martin, Merv Griffin, The Hollywood Palace, etc. In fact, I was the one who fou...

Re: Fourth Season Myth
Thank you, it's my pleasure to share the research and tell the full story. The problem with the book that seems to be accepted as the Bat-Bible is that I'm not sure the author did much research in primary source documents. It appears he took everything said by cast/crew members as gospel and that's ...

Re: Fourth Season Myth
For sure, Adam must have felt relieved with the cancellation of BATMAN. He made his feelings known publicly in Jim Bradford's syndicated column on December 31, 1967. Batman Jim Bradford column 12.31.67.JPG He spent the first half of 1968 dating his steady gal, Linda (High Chaparral) Cristel - there ...

Re: Fourth Season Myth
Created? No, but I found and scanned the original 35mm image and I own that scan. Now, if you can find another 35mm open-matte print with that French title overlay, you would have every right to copy and share it.
I wish you luck!

Re: Fourth Season Myth
No hurt feelings but for me personally, I don't go on a message board, copy someone's image and share it elsewhere without asking first. It just seems a bit presumptuous?

Re: Fourth Season Myth
I didn't give any credit as I'm the one who found the ad and spent time cleaning it up in Photoshop!
It would have been appropriate to ask permission before sharing someone else's work. I had posted in that Facebook discussion but deleted the thread when the villagers stormed the castle.

Re: Fourth Season Myth
And I see that someone has copied and shared that syndication ad on the page without acknowledging the source or sharing the relevant data. If fans realized it was being sold into syndication months before the last broadcast, it may open a few eyes.

Re: Fourth Season Myth
Partly because nobody has bothered to do the hard research, and many people like believing the myth. You should have read the nasty comments on the Facebook page. "So you're calling Yvonne a liar," etc. Besides, at that point, I don't think you could have offered Adam enough money to do an...

Re: Fourth Season Myth
News of the cancellation hit on January 18, 1968 and by the end of the month, Adam was sporting mustache and sideburns and preparing for a violent western as part of a three film deal with Romar. He wasted no time in trying to establish a new image! Bat 1.18.68.JPG Bat 1.26.68.JPG Bat 1.29.68.JPG Ba...

Re: Fourth Season Myth
Plus, as the ad shows, it was being sold into syndication while still on the network. It's worth noting as well, the third season did not have reruns in 1968. Here in New York, WPIX began running it for a full hour, five days a week starting in September 1968. It was off the air in this market for j...

Re: Fourth Season Myth
Boy, whatever you do, don't share this information on the Batman 1966 Facebook page. Holy mackerel, they went ballistic! Adam said this, Yvonne said that, they wouldn't lie, etc. Apparently, the source of this claim is a "respected member" of their community. I just deleted the thread. Som...
