Re: The 4th Season NBC Myth

Here's how I see it--even if NBC had casual interest [which wasn't reported anywhere at the time, as Bob Furmanek has noted], the problem is this--it takes two to tango. Dozier clearly had NO interest in continuing the show--it was more profitable to him dead, so to speak, than alive. He had had eno...

Re: Problems with the Bookworm episodes

The Bookworm episodes were on MeTV tonight. While I wouldn't expect scientific accuracy on the show a couple of things struck me. In part 1 Batman has Robin hit the bookmobile with 12000 decibels. That should have destroyed the bookmobile an everyone i nit. And maybe caused damage to the surroundin...

You say yourself it's sad. I guess I'm a fuddy-duddy because I don't think attempted murder is a joke. Whatever.

Re: Olga: An Appreciation

I agree that Zelda is a part better suited to Anne Baxter but she could also have been a more believably stylish Black Widow than Bankhead was. To me, the character of Olga is just a distraction on all levels keeping Egghead from having a strong return appearance and is also too much a broad carica...

Re: Olga: An Appreciation

QQ, you make a good, well-stated case, but I must admit it was too far over the top for me. Plus, my mother is of Russian/Ukrainian descent, and I found Olga to be a bit offensive, to be quite honest, especially her zombie-like Cossacks, who creeped me out.

Sorry. To each his own, I guess.

Re: Anybody see this stuff

If the first document is legit, and it certainly appears to be, it's fascinating that Julie was scheduled to be paid $10,000. She probably deserved more, but consider Meriwether was paid only $5,500 for stepping in at the last minute.

Re: An observation about Siren...

We're actually looking at this seriously? I need a Motrin. :? John I don't see what's out of line about having a discussion on this point in the same way Trekkies have spent decades having discussions about the principles of a scientific absurdity, faster-than-light speed (without which, you have n...

Re: An observation about Siren...

This is somewhat of a tangent but regarding the note, I think you once said the phone lines of the 1960s weren't equipped to handle such a sound as well as today's phone lines, and that your theory was that Siren's hypnotic note probably shouldn't have worked over the phone in 1967. Correct? You ar...

I can't argue with you as I know nothing about music. She could have sung a low B for all I know. This is somewhat of a tangent but regarding the note, I think you once said the phone lines of the 1960s weren't equipped to handle such a sound as well as today's phone lines, and that your theory was...

Re: Richard Bakalyan, RIP?

Sad news. Definitely was an interesting person. In addition to his dozens of acting credits, he wrote the screenplay for a 1970 'anti-hero' Western called Five Savage Men and also titled sometimes as The Animals . I'll admit the (very violent) movie wasn't my cup of tea, but it certainly showed he h...

Re: Villains, "Fab Four" and more

Would go with Siren, King Tut, Bookworm and Minstrel as my second four. I think Siren and Tut would have fun commenting on each other's clothing style and I believe Minstrel was very underrated.

Bottom four: Olga, Ffogg, Chandell, Archer.
