Re: Bat Logos Used On The Show

Too bad he never faced off against a supervillain whose expertise involved intellectual property theft. Ha! That might have happened in the days when Batman was still a crimefighter-in-training: According to a Silver Age comic , when apprenticed to a famous gumshoe to learn detective skills, ...

Re: Batman '66 Double Feature coming

It's a shame this wasn't lined up for a holiday season release, i'm sure it would have been an excellent stocking filler option for many folks. I imagine Warners wants die-hards to put the standalone Batman vs. Two-Face discs on their wish lists (although most of us probably own it already). Timing...

I missed an episode and just caught up. Dat's henchman is another cameo from the animated opening -- King Cobra! Great stuff, Andy!

Re: TO THE BATPOLES podcast #68: Season Two vs. Season One: Was the slide inevitable?

I haven't read Taflinger or any other comedy theory, but I watched an almost embarrassing number of sitcoms in my childhood. I don't like to think of Batman as a sitcom, especially during season one, when the action/comedy balance seemed so well-honed. So I'm almost reluctant to throw this out there...

Re: Batcave: what's on the audience side?

I tend to think of each set in isolation, so it's fascinating to learn about the geometry of the soundstages. If I'm understanding the layout correctly, someone sliding down the batpoles in the Wayne study could have spun around and looked out across the study, beyond the camera operators to the Bat...

Re: Bat Oxygen Mask

Cool that you got to check out the respirators, Ben. I was surprised to see the slots in the upper "tank;" when I looked at photos of the Duo wearing those masks, I for some reason inverted the slots in my mind's eye, envisioning the "vents" as the edges of knurled dials protrudi...

Re: Bat Logos Used On The Show

Those are the main ones, but the Batcycle also had a unique logo: Batcycle_logo.jpg And Batgirl had her own logo as well, seen here as her chest emblem, belt-buckle, and on her own motorcycle: batgirl_cycle2.jpg I have a sneaky suspicion there are a bunch of others on various one-off bat-gadgets.

Re: Bat Oxygen Mask

Some good photos of an original bat-respirator prop that went unsold at a recent memorabilia auction. They include views of the inside of the mask, revealing the tab the actor bit down on to hold the it in place. https://propstoreauction.com/view-auctions/catalog/id/78/lot/18127/?url=%2Fview-auction...

I typed the post above as I listened -- after the episode review, during the book discussion. The outro made me laugh out loud. :)

Re: TO THE BATPOLES podcast #73: Frank Gorshin returns - don't blink or you'll miss him!

Another fine podcast. Thanks especially to you (and High C) for sharing the script. Mae West, the Vibrating Massage Table, and the fact that Betsy Boldface was once Barney are all fascinating tidbits, but the script's biggest revelation to me was the long-lost answer to the riddle posed at the end o...

Re: Script: THAT DARNED CATWOMAN, featuring Poison Ivy

"Robin and Poison Ivy next to each other and hold hands like Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald." That's a good precise reference but for ignoramuses such as myself how did Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald hold hands? I've never seen anything close to a complete Nelson Eddy-Jeanette McD...
