Gotham City Police Headquarters in Warner video on youtube

Post by Gleeps, it's Batman »

I was watching some tours of the Warner Bros backlot on youtube, and found a tour guide training video. There probably aren't a lot of people here that are interested in backlots, but I figured I'd post this in case anyone wanted to see the area around the Gotham City Police Headquarters facade. I cued it up to the first glimpse of it in the background down the street, and then as he walks up the street he does mention Batman. Near the end, the little park that he's talking about is across the street from the GCPH facade, and is in the background (at night) as Batman is saving Robin from the bell in part two of the Bookworm ep.

Actually this entire corner where the park and GCPH facade are gets used in much of the Bookworm episodes. The GCPH steps are used near the beginning of part 1 when the exploding book is planted in the Batmobile, and the henchman is sitting on the steps of the facade when Batman and Robin come out and are talking to him. And across from the park there's what they call Embassy Courtyard, and as Batman is saving Robin from the bell, when you see the park in the background, the camera is shooting this scene through the gates at the Embassy Courtyard that are visible within the first 35 seconds of this video, which picks up where the previous link left off:

And at the corner where all three of these meet (Embassy Courtyard, the park, and the GCPH facade) is where the giant book was set up that Batman and Robin get trapped in.

Actually, I was just listening to the John S Drew podcast that Ben Bentley participated in, which was talking about the Penguin/Marsha teamup, or I wouldn't have thought to look at the shot across the street from where I've just cued this up:

I found it interesting to see that the wall that Penguin and Marsha drove the gold tank out of appears to be where that opening is across the street. Looks like all they had to do was build a fake break-away wall across that opening for the tank to drive through.

They've used this part of the Warner backlot in several Batman episodes, but then that makes sense considering it's called New York St. ;)
