Original Batman costume???
Has anyone seen this video clip? A Super Hero museum claims to have an original Adam West costume. What do you think? Is any of it real? If it was, do you think they'd have it displayed out in the open and allow anyone to touch it?

Not if you know what you're looking for.
This has been covered before and the majority is a repro.
Cowl , gloves, trunks and belt for sure.
The owner knows this.

Chuck, do you know this guy? Quite a lot of nerve to be making all these claims about the cost/value of the costume and to even have the news come and report on it.

Re: Original Batman costume???
Yes, I contacted him through Facebook to let him know the majority was a repro and he knew it but was still happy it was owned by Adam and thanked me for looking out for them.
He even asked about a Superman suit he want's to buy from the same seller!
The next thing I saw was a newspaper story about his "Original Batman costume from the show".
Now this news story.
I contacted both the newspaper and the television station to make them aware it is not from the show and he knew it.
I asked the same question to the TV station. How can a costume that wasn't getting a fraction what the original seller was asking in his Ebay auction now worth $100,000?
Complete bull.......

If i'm not mistaken this is the suit sold on eBay a few weeks back.
The discussion of authenticity was naturally had over on the thread regarding the auction.

Amazing how this suit keeps popping up. Chuck, you never cease to amaze me with your knowledge of the batsuit, I don't think anyone has analyzed and researched these suits more than you!

Re: Original Batman costume???
Thanks Waterratt!!
It's an odd hobby but someone's gotta do it! LOL!!
It's also helpful that I emailed the ebay seller to ask what the thing on the shoulder was and he said it was vintage fabric!! Well if that's the vintage fabric next to the rest of the costume (and it looks like it to me), it follows that the rest of the costume is not vintage fabric!
To say it's original but it's been "restored" is very misleading. It implys it is the original piece that has been redyed or somehow rejuvenated. Knowing the nature of the original fabric, I don't know how it could be done.
From the photos I got from the ebay seller, I suspect it is a different fabric used in it's construction than the vintage fabric.
The tights and emblem look good and may well be vintage but the tights used were off the rack and available up until just a few years ago. My suit has them!
I'm also willing to say the boot tops are probably vintage but that's about it.
It's a cool costume that was owned and worn by Adam West!! That's cool all on it's own but you just can't say it's from the show or an "Original cowl or Original TV Batman Costume".
BTW, I was banned from their Facebook page !
Pictured are the Hardeman Costume, The Azarian Costume and the cowl my shell came from.
Also pictured is the costume in question.
One of these things is not like the others....
Tapping out and on to better things!

I noticed that you were banned. I put in a few comments as well. Will have to see how long I last. I guess the truth hurts.

Re: Original Batman costume???
I went to this museum several weeks ago. I asked the owner
about the suit. Before actually seeing it I asked him
if it was the Hardeman suit (like I said I hadn't seen it yet)
and he had no idea who I was talking about. He didn't know there
was even another suit out there. Upon looking at the suit it was quite obvious that
it wasn't worn on the show. I asked him about it and he said Adam had it made for appearances.
He does have a letter from Adam stating that he wore it but doesn't go into much more detail than
that. A lot of people seemed to think it was worn on the show but I wasn't about to correct them.

Re: Original Batman costume???
I just noticed this museum is in my neck of the woods. I think I'll go and take a ton of pictures and then tell him it wasn't a show worn costume!
