Adam West weighs in on the Bat-Fleck Controversy

@therealadamwest Remember Ben, with the cape and cowl comes great responsibility (and lots of heat). Bring deodorant. #batman @BenAffleck

I think Ben Affleck must surely be racking up some kind of record - having played Daredevil, George Reeves' Superman and now the Caped Crusader.
Has any other actor portrayed so many Superheroes??
Cheers,
Terry

Can't think of one, Terry. Clayton Moore played both Zorro and the Lone Ranger. But that's only two.

Chris Evans did both the Torch and Captain America. Again, that's only two.

The title of this article made me chuckle:

Adam West Thinks Ben Affleck Might Stink As Batman…Quite Literally
By: Scott Johnson on August 23, 2013

Adam West, who played Batman in the sixties Batman TV series, has taken to Twitter to weigh in on the big announcement that Ben Affleck will play Batman in the upcoming Man Of Steel sequel. It turns out that Adam West thinks that Ben Affleck might stink as Batman…quite literally.

As words of advice to the latest actor to take on the mantle of Batman, Adam West tweeted, “Remember Ben, with the cape and cowl comes great responsibility (and lots of heat). Bring deodorant. #batman @BenAffleck.”

Wise words indeed from a legendary Batman, as no one wants to smell a stinky Batman in the hot sweltering sun on set. Hopefully, Affleck will heed the advice and wear plenty of Bat-Deodorant.

Well, Kirk Alyn played Superman and Blackhawk. Was there any other comics character he played?

And George Reeves played Superman of course, and Sir Lancelot. Any others there?

Buster Crabbe DOES tie Ben Affleck, though. He played Tarzan, Buck Rogers, and Flash Gordon. I don't know if he played any other comics heroes, though. :)

Oh! As far as Clayton Moore goes, does Jesse James count? He DID play Jesse in two serials and Jesse WAS the good guy in both! :)

The only one who ties Crabbe, I think, is Kane Richmond, who played the Shadow, Spy Smasher and Brick Bradford (and even that is only a tie if you count the Shadow as a "comics character." He's been in lots of comics, but didn't start there. But then again, neither did Tarzan).

Also, Warren Hull played The Spider, Mandrake the Magician and The Green Hornet.

After that, I think they're all two-fers:

Tom Tyler played Captain Marvel and the Phantom.

Ron Ely played Tarzan and Doc Savage.

Johnny Weismuller played Tarzan and Jungle Jim.
"You were right again, Batman. We might have been killed."
"Or worse. Let's go..."

Crabbe also played Red Barry and Thunda (in King of the Congo), the first was a comic strip detective and the second was based on a continuing comic series by legendary artist Frank Frazetta. Crabbe's FLASH GORDON trilogy is tops in my book.

I think we may have a winner: Buster Crabbe.

I knew we had a winner when I saw my first Flash Gordon chapter 40 years ago! :)

This whole exercise was a FUN trip down Memory Lane! I pulled all of my examples outta my head! :)
