'66 Batman and "Mad Men"

Post by Jim Akin »

Part of the fun of Mad Men is its mirror of 60s pop culture. As might be expected for any member of this board, I was hoping there might be a nod to Batman in the episodes set in '66 and '67, at the height of Batmania. If there was one, I missed it. Batman's in good company, though, since Mad Men also skipped references to Sgt. Pepper, the Summer of Love, Monterey Pop, etc.

Better late than never, I suppose, I think we got Mad Men's first bat-allusion in this week's episode, set in the summer of '69, more than a year after bat-cancellation. No spoiler in saying there was a passing reference to a "dynamic duo."

Am I right, or did I miss earlier references to Batman on Mad Men?

Cheers,

I haven't heard of any Batman reference but I was happy to hear them play something from The Monkees!
