The Riddler's False Notion question

This post concerns The Riddler's False Notion eps.and the scene when Batman rushes over to the sawmill to save Robin.Once he grabs what he thinks is Robin's arm and it turns out to be a dummy,the saw stops turning.Please forgive me if I missed something here,but how did the blade stop turning for as far as I can see Batman didn't move the lever.Thanks in advance. :?:

He throws the control lever as he passes it.
