A long ago debated topic, turned out to be rear camera of some sort. It was added after season 1 wrapped and was seen briefly under the short turbine exhaust tube (season 1 look) in that b/w PSA about driving safety and TV Guide issue. The turbine exhaust tube was then lengthened for the full length movie (between season 1 and 2) and the "camera" remained underneath. Here is a topic on the '66 Batmobile's board from June 2006.

This happens on a lot of shows. I chalk it up to the director, or someone else, saying "we're paying someone to do sound effects, so I want as many sound effects as I can get!"
I just noticed a 2nd tunnel on the right side rear of the atomic pile. This is from "Scat Darn Catwoman" episode. Were these ever used as part of a story line? I can't recall anything but when Tut crashed through the area where the left tunnel is/was by the time that episode aired.

Catching up with the Liberace episodes I noticed the bat fight scene combined two themes. That must have been a little expensive. What a terrible actor he is in this.

I'm guessing that he wasn't hired for his thespian skills.

Most Bat-villains only required one hot henchbabe per story; in Chandell's case the producers compensated for Liberace's - er - shortcomings in the virility stakes by surrounding him with THREE! And three of the hottest at that!!
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but in the past couple days I've watched "A Piece of the Action" and "Batman's Satisfaction." A thought crossed my head. I can't remember which episode exactly, but earlier in the show (I believe second season), during a batclimb, Green Hornet and Kato have a cameo appearance and both duos acknowledge one another as if they were crime fighting pals. But, back to the guest starring episodes. They are rivals and The Dynamic Duo is unaware that Green Hornet and Kato are actually crime fighters. Very confusing!
