The #4 Dragster Is In Paint!

Post by Mark Racop »

I am pleased to announce that the painting of the Barris-built #4 dragster 1966 Batmobile replica has commenced. We have wet sanded, painted stripes, masked, and painted black. We will next make any minor striping repairs (as per normal) and then clear the car. So far, so good! Please check out our Facebook page, Fiberglass Freaks, for more photos of this restoration. Here's a photo to whet your appetites:

PS: The owner opted for 'mind's eye red' instead of 'screen accurate' neon red/orange.

Surprised about the stripes considering how rigid he seemed about other original details. Looks great so far!

Here is the back half, in final clear! Look at that reflection...and that's before wetsanding and buffing.

We're doing the minor paint repairs to the striping on the front half of the car and prepping to clear it, too. Hopefully we'll be done about the end of this week. More pics soon!

Here is the back half of the car with the wetsanding and buffing almost complete. What you see in the top of the wing is the clear reflection of the window and exhaust fan, over ten feet away!
