RIP Jack Carter

Comedian Jack Carter died yesterday at the age of 93. He played Hot Rod Harry in the Shame episodes during the second season. Those eps will be on ME-TV on July 11.

Sad indeed. Jack Carter was one of the first celebrities I ever met. We were on an NBC and Universal tour in 1976 and he was just coming out of the commissary at Universal. Here's a shot of my mom and sister getting his autograph.

Sad news. I sent him some photos through the mail a couple of years ago to be signed and he returned them plus a couple of others and also wrote out a very nice personalized note. A very gracious person.

I saw him in person at the Reno airport in the 70s.

Funny, I was just reading about him recently online! He was an iconic comedian on 1950's television, and his TV show somewhat rivaled Sid Cesar's. He ended up mostly doing guest shots on episodic TV, but he was close to stardom at some point. Here's a very interesting interview with him:
