The original style Bat Boots!

Post by Chuck Williams »

Another unique piece I saw in the collection of my friend back east is a pair of the first style "Bat Boots" used on the show. Before they settled on leather for presumably a more durable boot, the first boots were covered in satin fabric.I thought they had used the same type of heavy satin used on bridal shoes but they didn't. They used the same batsuit fabric they use on the rest of the costume!!! Knock me over with a feather!!! Beautifully made and lined in leather like all the later boots. Another SUPER RARE bit of bat history!!

So, these boots were satin on the outside? I don’t think any of us would have ever thought that. It’s amazing to see these original pieces after all these years. Thanks for posting these Chuck. Great stuff!

Another great find. Personally, I like the way these boots have heels on them.

Wowsers! Thanks again for sharing these images! I always assumed the early satin boots were long gone by the nature of them being covered in fabric.

Any speculation Chuck as to why the same Bat-Suit fabric on the boots didn't go purple the same way in which the cowl/gloves, trunks all did?

They did fade on the inside. In the interior shot you can see the faded fabric at the top where it is folded towards the inside.
How they kept it from fading more than it did on the outside, I have no idea!

Satin boots? :o
And they still look pretty decent after all this time :o :o

Perhaps they coated the outside w/ something to protect the fabric and it somehow kept it from fading?
