on a helocopter you put the battery switch to power to start spinning the turbines up to speed in order to light the jet engine. then you put the batt switch to gen for running and to off when you not runnning it

to start a helocopter you put the "battery switch to power" to spin up the turbines . when the "turbines get to speed" you can fire the engine as it wont run if the turbines arent spinning. then you would put the switch to "gen" for running . then or off to not run

i guess that would be the "bat" switch

It was mentioned a few times, most notably the pilot that the Batmobile has a nuclear power source and it needs to be able to reach top speed faster than a normal car so they can get to their destination quicker than normal. Of course, it's also mentioned that when Batman and Robin aren't after a criminal, they drive normal speed like everyone else.
