Batman Day?
I belong to several Batman groups on FB and I've seen many posts announcing today as "Batman Day". What's up with that?

Re: Batman Day?
Cover date was May though it is possible that it hit the stands earlier.
Re: Batman Day?
Batman Day is totally NOT a madeup date so that Warner Bros can sell more Batman stuff.
Ha! Batman Day.
Ha! Batman Day.

Re: Batman Day?
Ah yes, the original Batman from May 1939 with the purple gloves that "purists" like Frank Miller and Jim Lee all conveniently "forget" and sidestep as it suits them.

Re: Batman Day?
Detective Comics #27 was on the stands March 30th 1939. The May Batman date is just to coincide with the cover date. YO Jim Lee once told me he'd love to see Batman back in the purple gloves, and if I wanted to be uber geeky I could have told him those gloves were actually blue in the original printing of the comic book but colored that pink color in the reprints.

Well guys, wait a second here. I just pulled out my CGC 9.8 of Detective 27 and looks like the gloves are indeed pink, so I must have a reprint. Of course, inside is an advertisement for a Remco Flying Batman from 1974 so..
