Fascinating stuff as always, Bob. Thanks for sharing.
'I thought Siren was perfect for Joan.'--Stanley Ralph Ross, writer of 'The Wail of the Siren'
My hobbies include gazing at the Siren and doing her bidding, evil or otherwise.

Very interesting find! It is ironic that Jack Benny had not seen the show, but appeared in the newspaper comic strip.

Blake Edwards was someone to talk - he had Tony Curtis play The Great Leslie just like Adam West played Batman: perfectly straight.
"To the medical eye, such childish claptrap means only one thing, young man: You need some sleep."

And "The Pink Panther Strikes Again" even cribs the "Batman" theme in the opening credits! (and Herbert Lom as Dreyfus in his scheme to take over the world with a weapon is more an outsized Batman villain in this one)

And let's not forget that Clouseau's crime fighting car in Strikes Again is a Batmobile with wings etc that they use the original Batmobile sound effects for including the Atomic Batteries sounds, flame sounds and whirring jet engine sounds!
PS: I just thought of this...didn't Dozier say he wouldn't use comedians as villains as they have a tendency to play things over the top or something similar? What heck was Berle?
