Futura Batmobile in HD...blu ray

Post by batbelfry »

Warner Archive is releasing "It Started with a Kiss" remastered on blu ray...which of course features the pre-Batmoble Futura, still wearing its red paint.

WAC has uploaded a clip to youtube...jump ahead to about the 4:13 mark...

That’s really wild to see this remastered in HD. It looks like it could have been shot yesterday.

Barris should have kept the raising window bubble feature. Would have made more sense from a crime fighting stand point to have an enclosed car (bullet proof etc) not to mention it does rain, get cold and hot in Gotham City. That being said, I love our Batmobile!

And it would tie back to the 1950’s Batmobile

I can't remember where I read it, but I feel like I saw an interview about that once, where someone (Barris probably?) said that the open/close mechanism was too slow, and they decided that it would never work within the action context of the show.

Note how the paint job isn't as glossy as it could be - a concession to preventing reflections, probably.
