Sad news - Marilyn Watson has passed away

Post by twint9 »

I’m sorry to have to pass along some sad news. Marilyn Watson, who was Julie Newmar’s stunt double, passed away on Friday at age 90. I had the good fortune to have been able to speak with her just a few weeks ago. She was so gracious and fondly remembered her work on Batman.

My deepest condolences to her family.

That's an incredibly sad, but a full life nevertheless! Any stories or insights you can offer Ivan? Having spoken with her so recently?

We quite regularly see the shots of Julie and Marilyn in which she's wearing a black sweater and leggings, so to mix it up and do thing proper' - here she is in full Catwoman costume and makeup.

Did we decide that it was her in the S3 episode with supervillain doubles filmed from the back? Despite Catwoman being black in S3 ...

RIP. Thanks for being Julie's stuntwoman.

I always wondered who stood in for Julie in the scene in a Purr-fect Crime where Catwoman and henchman leave the museum after Batman finds the drugged Robin (roughly 15:26). That is clearly NOT Julie walking away. It may not have been Marilyn either as she looks fairly short.

Saw this clear frame of Marilyn Watson in action from "The Bat's Kow Tow" doing what she did purrfectly.

Amazing screengrab, Scott. Marilyn looked so much like Julie in action with the mask on, even in a freeze frame.

As opposed to say, Burt and Victor. (The proboscis was a giveaway.)
