2025 marks 40 years since the 1966 motion picture version of the Batman series saw home video release for the very first time.
Playhouse Video first distributed the movie on VHS and Beta on December 4, 1985. It was the very first home video release of the 1966-68 Batman television series in any format. Subsequent rereleases of the movie on VHS occurred in 1989 and 1994, followed by DVD and Blu-ray releases in 2001, 2008 and 2014, along with long-awaited releases of the series itself in Complete Series and season sets.
