Batman Belt Buckle ... 1940's ??
Can anyone here provide any information on this Belt Buckle.
I found it on evilbay !
When or what year was it made, what does the design supposed to mean, is it rare or
common, ??
It reads on the back:
National Periodical Publications, Inc. (No Date))
with the number 0015
The Buckle is also attached to a to a Belt that
is stamped BATMAN.
I also found a photo of the Buckle in the Book BATMAN COLLECTED, by Chipp Kidd,
on page 36 , It just says it is from the early 1940's ???
Any further help on its actual Date Made , or ANY information on this would be a
Great help.
Thanks

1966 from the Morris Belt Company.
2 versions (one with red paint) and sold with the leather belt and buckle alone.
old topic found on this board from 2012

Thank you A. Pennyworth .............
It could be a 1940's Buckle with Belt that I have , but as you have pointed
out , it is most likely from the 1960's.
Nice photos of the packaging, I have never seen this item before.
It is always fun to find Old things that I never knew was out
there or even existed !!

There is so little Batman merchandise pre-1965 that most of the time the dates are wrong-- even Chip Kidd missed it with this one.
I'm only aware of the Batman cardboard mask that was given out during the 1943 serial-- a Batplane from the same era, a Batman Club Card from the 1949 serial and some rub on decals. Other than that I can't think of anything from the 40s.

I owned one of these back in grammar school around 1966-67. My recollection is that we purchased it new at the local JC Penney. I haven't seen one since then.

Yeah, "National Periodical Publications" wasn't even a thing until 1961.
Before that, it was "Detective Comics, Inc" (hence "DC") and a sister company called National Allied Publications.
Anyway, it looks more appropriate for the Phantom than Batman, despite the name.

"You were right again, Batman. We might have been killed."
"Or worse. Let's go..."

Andy, you are correct. Wasn't there a chalk figure of Batman as well, that was a carnival prize from that era? Can't recall lol.AndyFish wrote: ↑Mon Dec 11, 2017 9:38 am There is so little Batman merchandise pre-1965 that most of the time the dates are wrong-- even Chip Kidd missed it with this one.
