New packaging for the Batmobile snap kit

Post by John Mack »

I suppose Polar Lights is trying to keep things fresh with their snap kit. Unfortunately, the figures are still the cartoon versions and not of Adam and Burt as their glue kit figures are.

I have the previous release, wifey put it together for me-- she loves model kits.
I liked the old packaging, I like this packaging, but I don't like when they do this. It's like when a comic collection gets re-released with a new cover-- you don't know if you have it and now you have two copies of something.

As for the figures-- why didn't they just repaint them? They have the '66 rights for the kit. I guess a model maker could do it themselves.

Well. I did try to repaint the figures and chopped Batman's ears a bit. You can see it here:

I also broke the Batbeam when trying to "snap" it into place. I need to contact the company to get a replacement.

I should have used a darker blue for Batman. Also, the photos are of my first attempt to paint the Batman figure. I have retouched him since then. All in all, it turned out ok. I haven't done a model kit in years lol.

I saw some of the other Batmobile kits were being rereleased too. Nice to see them back in print, so to speak.
