Some people want "Hot Toys" figures at "FTC" prices.
I posted this months ago, and it still stands: maybe collectors want the same attention to (near) accuracy Mego paid to actor-based figures over 40 years ago...40 years ago--

Compare that to awful FTC scupts--

Can anyone deny FTC failed--and is nowhere near Mego's attention to the actor based sculpts? It has nothing to do with wanting Hot Toys level at FTC prices--but actually trying to live up to the legacy of Mego, instead of buying into the myth (easily shattered by the photo comparisons) of Mego being poor, cheap or generally off.
I agree, Mego did have some good head sculpts back in the day.
However, this can also be reversed.
Mego has also had some big misses and FTC has had some direct hits.

In many ways (in my opinion) FTC is superior.
The costuming alone is better than anything that Mego ever did.
I'll admit that the Mego body's were better because they were easier to stand & pose but aside from that, I can't agree.

To be fair, BATWINGD HORNET, the pics you've used of the Barbara and Batgirl figures are the prototypes. The commercially-released final figures are much better likenesses than those (esp. the mouths), and I've used the Barbara head to make a great Marta the green Orion from "Star Trek".

That Marta custom is very cool for sure! Glad to see people getting creative with the newly available Yvonne merch.

The reason the Paul Stanley was a total miss on Mego's part is that they simply just repainted the Captain head from the Captain and Tennille line. Ha ha! Apparently they had the money to sculpt three new heads, but not four. So they just repurposed the Captain head.

The Starchild and Tennille? What's he sing? "Love...Love Gun will keep us together...I'm dressed in glitter and leather.." Man, Wally, Mego was great but they could be really something else at times. Anyone recall the Dutch clog shoe for a Batcopter?

Still have no interest in variants but these are nicely detailed.
Love the egghead one, he should come with a poached egg sandwich to deliver to the Commish.

I'm digging the Octave Marbot- think he's the only one I'll snag. Make a nice pairing with the Contaminated Cowl Bats. :)

BTW- I sent FTC a note on doing the Alfred in Batsuit variant, think they may do it, would be an easy cash grab (and I for one would love it).

Alfred would be an interesting one-- but the thing that made it funny to me was how scrawny he was in the suit- Commish asking Robin if Batman was feeling ok-- they'd need a new skinny body to make it work-- I think Alf with a buff body doesn't have the same appeal to me.

Nothing a little time in the microwave or boiling water and some squeezing couldn't fix. ;)

they are developing a skinny body for Shaggy and Superfriends Toyman, so its possible.
