New Hot Toys 66 Batman Variant

Post by NJ_Batfan »

From the Hot Toys booth at San Diego Comic Con:

As much as I like the graphics and new accessories, this odd combination of the TV Batman with Silver Age comic book blue is a pass for me. I was hoping to see a new character unveiled.

Not crazy about it, but heck I can't afford the first one.

What were they thinking? That blue is too bright. Looks like a new sculpt. The ears look straighter.

Horrible. Should have made a new '66 character like Joker or Batgirl. I do like the Batphone though, would have liked to have had included in the first one.

I agree with you guys. I saw the pics on Facebook and I´m not a fan of the bright blue colors. I own the first one and it´s fine that way. Don´t know if it´d be on a bigger scale than the previous one, but it has the same items except the cardboard background and the Batphone.

I think it's their take on the Infantino Batman from the 1960's.

Looks more like the Superfriends version. I still want that Batphone. Will have to scour the net once someone buys one and breaks it up.

I love the mega-phone he is holding too from the Joker Goes to School Episode!

I'd like to say the blue isn't as bright in person, but it is. It grew on me the more I walked by it, but then I'm a fan of the comics of the era as I am the show. Looks like the same sculpt to me. Ears are still flopsy mopsy.

Heard some bad news regarding the Batmobile-- although I heard it from a Sideshow rep not hot-toys themselves. Rolling wheel issue appears to hard to overcome. I'm told it's not coming out.

This is hands down the most left-field product variant we've seen since the merchandise licensing became available.

There's been some suggestion that the coloring of this 'variant' might anticipate the forthcoming '66 Batman animated film - but I tend to think that's a tenuous justification at best.

Is anyone here tempted?

I figured it may be a ToyFair exclusive (I bought the evil superman III in the past and it was just a new suit and base) but itt looks like a full release. I can't understand why they didn't produce a pink cowl variant or at least give us shorts and a board.
I wish they would release the Batmobile, they can lock the wheels for all I care, it would sit in a glass tank with my figures anyway.
