Received mine today, same issues as everyone else. Question is did anyone get one WITHOUT these issues?

On top of that last question....for those of you returning the bust.... are you just hoping QC will fix the damage and re-release a new bank without the problems....or are you just conceding to not having this piece in your collection?

I ask because I am not thrilled with the reports either, but this was my only shot at owning a lifesize piece like this (without forking over the big bucks for the old working replica)

I'm not happy with the mold/design flaw, but I'm not sure I have any other choice. (Or do you legitimately think this problem will be resolved?)

I haven't received mine yet, but with $80 in shipping (yikes) I can't afford to return it and have another shipped to me. Has anyone come up with a solution to fix these 'dimples'? Would heating the plastic with a hairdryer and pushing the plastic back from the inside help?

Chuck (or anyone else, for that matter), is the cavity for the bank large enough to glue a 2" tube inside from the base to the neck to strengthen it? I'm also wondering if backfilling with Greatstuff might help. Any thoughts?

Mark's comment made me think - if these were exposed to elevated temperatures - say above 90 F (maybe higher), that may have cause the sag, so Mark's idea may be a solution to support it after the chest is uncompressed.

Hey Mark,

I don't have it here anymore to measure.
The chest seemed to me to be fixable with some hot water or a heat gun but I didn't want to try because it was going back.
I think you are on the right track with back filling it after the deformation is addressed.

What amazes me is that they had this kind of distortion when the casing is quite thick. It's like they got baked somewhere in shipping and softened up where the head slightly collapsed into the chest.

Me thinks Chuck should be getting his hands in the clay and sculpting an accurate one!!! The Whizzbang and Diamond bust both have inaccuracies.

Maybe releasing this during the summer was not a good idea - shipping trucks can get very hot.

Finally got an exchange on mine, and it basically has all the same issues. Such a shame. Largest disappointment on a major release I can remember. Not at all the quality I've come to expect from Diamond Select.

Well, I may have a fix for Shakespeare's sunken chest pictured here
Before pic
Before pic
After trying a rod with a heat gun, I noticed the chest flex into the right position, only to sink after the tube was removed. Actually it was the handle of one of our grill utensils. I got the idea that a tube if approximately 7" to 7-14" in length and placed between the chest and the base may apply enough pressure to keep it inflated.

After some trial and error, here is the result

The neck meets the chest with no gaps.

Here's the magic piece, roughly 7-1/4" x 1/2" PVC
1/2" PVC
1/2" PVC
No fix for the side of the face, but this was the major issue.
Riddle me this, why should The smart person run a string up the middle of the tube and loop it out the top and back out the bottom so they can hold both ends?

I ran a copper wire, but a string is better!

Anyone else?

Bottom cavity
Bottom cavity
I saw a post on Facebook that had this pic
He got the bottom off by pulling at it. If that's the case, there's probably a better way to support the chest wall. I will post if I find a better method. My current thought is a ring like a bracelet or teething ring that applies equal pressure all around like a "rib cage"

If you can open it up that easy changing out the knob and dial should be fairly easy too, I would think

They may have done that by design so you can upgrade it

Perhaps air pressure or a balloon?

I think your balloon will deflate with time, and you'll end up with the Pirate's dream
