1949 Robin Vest Replica
Hi All,
Here's the latest from Lynne for a client.
A replica of Johnny Duncans Robin vest from the 1949 serial.
I'm really thrilled with the black and white values compared to the film inset photo.
The colors were confirmed by our friend Alex Zsolt who did an interview with Mr. Duncan several years ago.
The first piece of the serial costumes is done and I can't wait for the rest!!

Re: 1949 Robin Vest Replica
Particularly timely, Chuck, considering that We've lost Mr. Duncan recently. As usual, Lynn, You've done a MAGNIFICENT job!!!! I'll be very interested to see the differences and similarities between the 1943 and 1949 Robin outfits.
BTW, since I've never seen the 49 version, what was that device on Robin's belt on his left side?
Even more importantly, does Andy Fish know You've got this ready yet?
I can hardly wait to see the next Serial piece to come out!!!!!!
Cheers,

That is so cool Chuck.
And I know the color is spot on from the conversation I had with Johnny about his Costume.
We presented him with an archery set when we paled around with him back in '97and the
color of the quiver we gave him was very close to his Robin vest he remarked.
Great Piece can't wait to see the rest.

Terrific work, Chuck! Must have been a tough job with so few close-ups of Robin in that serial. Did Johnny ever mention why the cape in the '49 serial was dark-colored? And was it red, green or...?

Re: 1949 Robin Vest Replica
Thanks Guys!
That, IIRC is a batsignal flashlight on his belt. He smashes the window and shines it on the wall to distract the kidnappers of Bruce Wayne.
According to Alex the cape was maroon matching the vest. I was going to guess green.
The shirt was a forest green.
Last I spoke to Alex he was going to edit his interview with John Duncan and publish it online.
I think Lynne knocked this out of the park!
Thanks again guys!

Re: 1949 Robin Vest Replica
Thanks, Chuck. I haven't seen the 2nd serial yet.....I'll have to look at it.
As far as the Domino mask, Have You considered making copies? I'd buy one as my Grandson wants a 1943
Serial Robin costume. You'd also make Andy F. very happy too, I think.
Thanks,

Thanks Guys!
We have a handful of these masks and don't intend to make copies.
They are actually fabric and not plastic!
The elastic cords on them are for children and it won't stretch around my melon and I won't risk tearing it to try.

Re: 1949 Robin Vest Replica
If I'm not mistaken and I admit this might be a question for Andy Fish, didn't douglas Croft wear and identical mask in the 43 Serial? It looks pretty close to me.
Thanks,
Thanks,
Larry
Re: 1949 Robin Vest Replica
Absolutely stunning spot on work Chuck-- Lynne is killing it.
Larry-- while I love this I'm not a costumer, and even worse, not a Robin rooter. I do collect cowls though-- in fact I'm looking at two of Chuck's right now. I've been egging him on for years to make a '43 cowl, but I need to put the bug in Lynne's ear or commission one when she's got the time.
But this is a beauty-- color wise it matches whichever original Robin vest I saw in person-- it's going back many years so faulty memories for sure, but I think it was Doug Crofts because it was around the time the Wilson cape was up for auction too.
Mask wise, I do think Croft wore a similar mask, I'll have to look it up.
