Cowl options

Post by pulpadded » Fri Mar 11, 2016 9:17 am

The three I have heard of are Williams, Renato, and Mattel. I am looking to get one for the premiere of DoJ, which I know will be difficult. Any other available makers?

Will Reeb is also making them on a limited basis. He is silverknight 58 here on the board and would be a better option than Renato, depending of course on your budget. The Mattel is ok but needs to be repainted, as the face is not right. Chuck''s cowl is the best of the best.

Not really so accurate looking but likely the only thing available in a 2 week delivery schedule.

I should also ask about capes, shorts, gloves, and boots; even if I get a Mattel cowl in 2 weeks, those are more difficult.

Lots of info on this board on capes, shorts, gloves and boots. All short of making yourself would be difficult if not impossible in 2 weeks time. In my opinion, the Williams provide excellent quality capes and shorts. I think they now (I could be wrong) work with Gaspar to help buyers source gloves as well. I would be shocked if any of those pieces could be made in 2 weeks though. This site also describes sources for boots but, again, the best boots would likely take much longer than 2 weeks. In a 2 week timeframe, your best source for boots might be ordering superhero costume boots from Amazon and painting them and maybe cutting the tops to your liking. I have seen people on this site do what I would consider the impossible though which is come up with creative solutions to make quality costume pieces themselves in short amounts of time. Happy costuming!

I should mention that the Williams also sell patterns for making costume pieces yourself.
