Re: FTC '66 Batcave coming!!!
I found the pictures on the website that was mentioned and have attached as many as I can. From the pictures,I was a little disappointed that FTC didn't make the computers out of plastic because it would've been nice to have something solid for Batman to go up to instead of cardboard computers. This set is like the original Mego Batcave but it's a little bigger and more interior graphics.I'm not sure if I'll bite the bullet and buy it,I'll have to think about it before I dish out $120 dollars to buy it.Enjoy the pictures and voice your opinion about if you think it's worth the money.

the pricepoint makes it an easy pass for me, especially now that I see how cheap looking it is. I really don't need another Batman figure either.

I am a little diasapointed. I think I may agree with tbolt, for that price is it even worth it? It seems to be a rehash of the previous batcave playset, but with just a added piece of cardboard connecting the two. Now if you think of this with a modern perspective, yes this is very bad. But, if you think of it as what a classic tv series batcave playset would look like if mego made one, you can see the charm.but one quick question, is the laminated cardboard as shiny as it looks in the photo? If not I might order this, although I really wish the bat computer was a plastic piece!!

Also, does anyone have an image of the bat-signal that is included?

Re: FTC '66 Batcave coming!!!
This is exactly what I expected for this price point and I love it. I was expecting closer to $200 with what they indicated they would include, but I think several factors, including the pressure from the Factory Entertainment Batcave, and waning interest in the 66 line led to the early release and lower price point.
It is ironic there was no picture posted here with the intended figure. But it is a great set for the Mattel 1/12 scale figures, and that one comes with a Batmobile and BatComputer. I think this Batcave is 3' long. and adding a Wayne manor above it would be excellent.
If you use the FTC figures and bought the TMello Batcomputer and Batsignal, you are in heaven. Although it will be a little tight for a tru 1/9 scale Batmobile (Hello EagleMoss), this is the first 1966 TV Batman Batcave. The Mego version was not the TV version, but borrowed elements from it. Bravo to FTC for releasing it so quickly.
I think there's a guy who's cottage company DIDA made a 1966 TV Batcave that was over $400 and was multi-level.

Here's the link to the DIDA comic version: http://www.the-toyroom.com/-MegoPlaysetsBatcave.html
The whole idea behind these play sets is for kids to back them up and put them away when playtime is over. Its simple, folds up nice.
I'll take some phones in a week or so with the FTC Batman and the Batcomputer for reference. In the meanwhile I'd like to see a photo with the Mattel 1/12 scale Batcomputer.

Big money then, few made, bigger money today.
I am perfectly happy with the FTC 66 Batcave. Well done and well executed for the price point and what it is supposed to be.

It’s a neat take on the cave that feels like vintage Mego. Nice fit for Mattel.

Re: FTC '66 Batcave coming!!!
I think FTC might have dropped the bat signal in favor of the included batman figure, since On the website there is no trace of the signal, and the image of the signal on the box has been replaced with a different one. Too bad, since that was a big draw.

The only Mego playset I had as a kid was the Starship Enterprise-- I loved the bright colors and the "transporter" action (you'd put a character in a little closet spin the wheel and they'd be gone.
I never had any of the others because I thought they looked cheap and we'd make our own. I'm surprised I never had the Batcave and I remember a friend had the Wayne Tower and although I thought it was cool it was too big to take outside and that's where we played with our Megos 90% of the time.

That Wayne tower is cool too!
Dida made a number of play sets, including the Enterprise.
As far as the Bat searchlight, I think they had to eject it to keep the price point low. I could see it being an accessory at some point along with a real batcomputer. It's been a great 11 year Batmania adventure so far.

odd, the pic for the signal is still on top of the box with O'Hara. I've seen pics of the box shipped and its still mentioned on the box

I remember the Star Trek bridge set. My friend one and I got the Planet of the Apes play set. Lots of great times we had.AndyFish wrote: ↑Mon Jun 11, 2018 12:11 pm The only Mego playset I had as a kid was the Starship Enterprise-- I loved the bright colors and the "transporter" action (you'd put a character in a little closet spin the wheel and they'd be gone.
