Hot Wheels Batmobile Variations

Post by Keith Mayo »

Aside from the blue tinted vs clear windows and the version with trailer hitch, how many variations are there in the small scale BLACK HW Batmobile?

When you say smaller scale, can you be more specific? These are listed in increasing physical size:
1:87 is the smallest from Hot Wheels/Mattel, only 1 version was released
1:64 is the normal Hot Wheels size: about 15 versions so far (the goal is infinity and beyond), no trailer hitch
1:50 is the one with/without the trailer Hitch (and fits the new factory entertainment Batcave). Packaging variations over the past few years. This is nearly the Pixar Cars scale (1:55)
1:43 is an LE version, similar to Corgi in size
1:24 has maybe two variations - without and with Batman/Robin
1:18 has 8 + variations
1:16 is an RC version
1:12 is a plastic in two variations

These are Mattel versions, and not all are labeled Hot Wheels.
Most of these are listed in threads on 1966Batmobile forums and pictoral history.

As Mattel can't seem to stick with one size, I'm referring to the type one finds on the pegs at toy stores. I've seen folks argue over the actual scale so I can't be more soecific.

John's (A Pennyworth) is for the standard 1/64 scale, which is actually 1/72, but its only off by a fraction.

Good luck with your quest. Two on Toy pegs are 1/64 and 1/50 scale. I believe only the first one or two series had no tow hook in the 1/50 scale. These are typically between $6 and $10 on pegs. The 1/64 scale is around $1.00 give or take 20 cents.

I am very much in need of the 1/50th scale Batmobile without the tow hook, or trailer hitch as people in the states call them. Can't seem to find any on ebay, and when I can't tell by the photos if they're in packaging, I email the sellers and no one responds. Anyone have one in packaging for prices Szabol quotes? Please PM me.

Here’s one I haven’t seen before. Found today and is 1/64 scale. The windshields are black as are the rocket launchers.
