Wow, I hadn't seen the design art for those statues. I'm really feeling the Adam-and-Burt vibe in that image.

Sure did get lost on the way to the end product, though...

Absolutely with you there, Sprangfan - I seriously dig the concept art, but like pretty much every figure in the '66 line-up from Diamond, they've missed the likeness' and even a glimmer of life in the any of the expressions that the final product features.

I saw a master-paint of the Robin figure in person at San Diego Comic Con this past July and even that didn't look that much better.

That's not to say that some folks aren't digging this line, but for me at the price-point that Diamond have positioned these statues, they leave an awful lot to be desired, even in comparison to the Moebeus model kits.

I have the entire Diamond Batman '66 mini-bus collection. A couple of those were slightly 'off' in terms of resemblance, but for the most part I liked them. The Diamond statues, however, don't grab me as they seem lacking something. I can't put it into words but they just don't seem to have it - whatever 'it' is or should be.
"Hmmm... I don't like the twist this joke is taking. Let us away! Let us away!"
