Re: Build a 1:8 scale Batmobile with Eaglemoss
I just got off the phone with their technical support. They have a pdf with the true dimensions, which appear to be much larger. The customer service guy said you can get it from the web, but no luck. I asked him to email it. If I get it, i'll post pics with the actual scale of the car.

The image from the webpage shows it to be 50cm or 19.685 inches.

Re: Build a 1:8 scale Batmobile with Eaglemoss
Yes, but according to this customer service guy, he was reading off some pretty large numbers in inches. I want it in writing so I asked him to direct me to the page. We could not get there. Then he said is was a PDF, but could not email it to me. He's taking the issue to a supervisor they took my email address so I hope the send me something in the next few days. If you click on the first issue, you can see a built model. It's a flat black paint, and the rims don't match the Radir rims in the promo pics, but it is a metal car, not plastic.

Well, I think I know what he was referring to: http://buildbatmobile.eaglemoss.com/magazine.php#page/7
The first issue is on line, and he was reading the dimensions in Meters. So it seems they know the dimensions of the real car. Argh

This would be a major investment for me and as Andy has said, would take sacrifice, albeit a coffee or in my terrible habit, a pouch of tobacco.
We've got to get some clear answers and some better photos before I commit.

New email from eagle moss:
"Unfortunately I have been unable to locate the measurements for this build, only that it is a 1/8 scale model.
The display base for this model is 685mm by 360mm, so the car itself would be a fraction smaller than this to fit on comfortably.
Apologies for any inconvenience.
If you require any further assistance, please let me know.
Kind regards
Jordan"
If true, that display box is about 27" x 14", and 1/8 scale is 28 1/8", so close to 1/8 scale. Sounds like it will fit the FTC figures and is metal.
Thanks sounds like a go if you can afford it and have the space for it.

I feel the pull of this one..... two years, some money and then what do you do with a two foot Batmobile? Still....it's pretty cool........

The completed Bond cars sold for over $2500. I can't imagine what a true metal 1/8 scale could resell. I remember complaints about the 1/6 Hot Toys being plastic and selling for $800+ which may have been a contributor to its demise. I'll bet PimpmyBatmobile will offer some upgrades too.
It's a sure win at that scale.

Re: Build a 1:8 scale Batmobile with Eaglemoss
I like the whole add a piece or two a week system. As someone who has a pile of model kits I'll never get to I think this would be the impetus to get me to put it together. Problem remains what to do with it afterwards. I'd hate to go through the hassle of building it simply to resell it and shipping would be a pain at this size anyway.

Re: Build a 1:8 scale Batmobile with Eaglemoss
Thanks to Szabol and others who are trying to tease out more about this car. The scale is such an important factor for many of the people who would consider buying into the subscription, and the lack of precise information is frustrating.
The Eaglemoss Delorian and Aston Martin cars are big, clearly larger in scale than Mattel's Batmobile and have excellent detail. (I don't know enough about those cars to critique the accuracy.) You can see many YouTube clips of people building and reviewing them. However, we have enough experience with other manufacturers not to assume the Batmobile will adhere to the same scale, due to the length of the car.
I shouldn't be looking for reasons to spend this much on a model car, but it sure would be a great looking piece.
