Any Ideas on This Cowl?

Post by AndyFish »

Purple Cowl.jpg
Found this over at Monsters In Motion, it's advertised as a screen used cowl from Return to the Batcave-- doesn't look like those at all to me. It vaguely looks like a Chuck cowl but the markings are a little thicker than I've seen him do. It could also be the angle but the nose seems shorter too.

Regardless, I dig this-- and I really love the purple for the cowl-- that's how I remember it from my early TV days even though it was indeed blue.

I have not see that one either. My Will Reeb cowl is a purple tint, although not as light a shade as this one, and I love it!

Clint Young is said to have made the props for that show

http://cyproductions.com/

He used to show photos of the actors wearing his props. That's a lot of fade in those few years.

Also, Monsters in Motion sells some of Clint's props.

Ken Davis cowl with the vintage fabric.
Wouldn't surprise me if Clint painted it.
It looks better than Kens normal paint work.

Clint made the belts (and any bat prop like radios or Batarangs) for Wally who, with Ken Davis , supplied the costumes to the production.

From what Ken told me, he made the Batgirl costume and Wally did Batman and Robin with his seamstress Kathy Pillsbury. So they stretched the truth to make it sound related to Back to the Batcave...

Good eye Andy! That is related to the first shell I ever made that I shared with Ken back in the day. It is much smaller than what we use now and even got changed before we started selling cowls...

Here's a picture that should be called, "so you want to art direct a cowl on yourself?" HAHA! I took dozens of images while I was trying to get a decent look to the shell trimming. It doesn't happen overnight!
This is pretty close to the shell used on that cowl...

Clint purchased cowls from Wally, Ken and myself over the years...

I'd need a tad longer than I have currently to dig through the archives, but this cowl has been bought and sold as several variations on "screen used", interesting that it's now been demoted to "RTTBC used" in it's misleading sales pitch.

Agree -it’s misleading.
Thanks Chuck, the smaller shell makes much more sense.
Still dig it.
