Limited edition of 25 Batman 1966 toy book

Post by BatToys »

A fan wrote a scholarly 3 volume set of rare 1960s Batman toys with photos. Also a golden age comic section. It was just for himself but he made 18 available to other fans. I think all were spoken for almost immediately. It was an informative book that is a good companion piece to Batman Collected.

Ed has a pretty impressive site
BatmanToys.com
Check it out if you'd like an idea of what is most likely in the books.
His site is beautifully done and has tons of images like these;

Thanks for the link, Andy. That collection is absolutely INSANE. I thought I’d seen it all and there’s countless items I didn't have an idea existed. Amazing.

There are several PDF files on his site that list the rare items-- I emailed Ed and unfortunately all 25 copies of the book are long gone (no surprise there) but he seems like a right chap with quite a collection.

A close friend told me that Ed sold off all his pre 1989 items back in 2015.

He wouldn’t be the first big collector to go out~ I think there comes a point where we realize we have too much stuff and we can’t take it with us ;)

If I am not mistaken, Ed sold his collection to the Hot Toys owner.

Ed is running another 12 sets. Se his Facebook post
It’s in the Batman Collectors section

here’s the quote
“I have spoken with the publishers and they are willing to do me another 12 sets of the books at the same price as before. That means between the first and second printings there will still only be 36 sets of this in existence. Before I order them I need to know how many people definitely want a set. The (non profit) cost is 26 GBP per volume so the 3 volumes will be 78 GBP + airmail shipping (they are pretty heavy). Total shipped to the US will be 111 GBP (or 116 if paying via Paypal to cover the fee). Before I go ahead and order them I need to know that at least 7 or 8 people definitely want a set. It will be a first come, first served basis and there will not be a third printing. Please lmk by return if you want a set”

Expert Art Cloos wrote an article on Golden Age Batman comics for the book.

I'm not sure but to get on the list for the second printing of 12 books you might have to join Batman Collectors Facebook page which is harder to get into than Studio 54. You really have to prove you're a Batman fan who has a pretty good vintage collection.
