How do you feel about “destroying” a perfectly good cowl to make a contaminated version. I think I’d be a little torn. On the other hand, a show car did become an iconic crime fighting vehicle....

I knew if we used anything but blue, I wouldn't have the hint of it here and there on the surface or on the underside.
Knowing it was going to live with the real one, I wanted them to be as close as possible.
It gave it's life for a noble cause...

Re: Before it was the pink cowl
this is absolutely incredible Chuck & Lynn.
Simply marvelous, but I'm am quite certain at this point that you will amaze us again.
for now, breathtaking.
Now that we can see the show in HD I have wondered if that is pink paint on the face.On yours we can now it is the black paint from underneath.
is there a stretch satin or leather that comes close to that Pink?

I thought about this awhile ago, Andy, but I didn't pull the trigger because of that bump on the Mattel nose.

Thanks Jimmy!!!
I picked up what I thought was super bright pink stretch satin a few years ago.
Even when I was going to get it to take this photo I thought it was intensely bright.
The moment I saw the cowl again I knew it wasn't even close. The color saturation is just so high that nothing seems to compete with the paint.

That’s what I thought, it’s ridiculously pink! Can you share the Pantone number?

The closest is probably Pantone 806 C.
It is maybe a hair warmer that that as well but the closest call out with the book I have.

Yes, quite a difference. The material color is so washed out.Chuck Williams wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 3:14 pm Thanks Jimmy!!!

novice Question- does the paint offer a more reflective surface to convey the saturated color?
does the material absorb more of the light? Does that make sense?
even if the material was dyed the same color< it might not photograph as bright?

Good question!
I've seen some fluorescent fabrics that are as bright as the painted surface but they also tend to be surface treatments and not the milled fabric.
I think you are correct in thinking that even if they were the same color, the fabric would be less bright than the paint.
