Wayne manor Hot line phone
Hi All,
I THINK I may have run across the base phone for the Hot Line!
This little beauty is from the 1940's!!!
The dish shape to the finger hole area, the smaller overall size, the raised circle in the center, the location and size of the former finger stop , the curved face...
Just need to add the base height. I imagine those lights heated up the fiberglass considerably and why they got taller with less lights over time.
The last shot are two items before they got famous!!
I welcome thoughts!!!

Good find! Seeing as to how they used fiberglass for the bust they did the same for this. Always wondered if the hero props really had the beepers inside them. It sounds like it on-camera and the lights sync right but with TV you can never be sure.

Ive been studying the original thinking about 3D designing a small desktop one but its got a complex shape to it and I would only want to do it if I was exact. That is the phone. Only thing I can add is it looks like the original was extended downward and that sat on top of a 1/2" board base painted black.

Congrats on another huge case solved!
When you see it, you see it! Those lines and shapes are all there for the Pilot phone.

I believe that’s the Western Electric model 500.
Here’s a British variant of the courtesy and security phones. These are mid 50’s UK styles,

Re: Wayne manor Hot line phone
Thanks Guys!!!
I wish I could say it was determination and grit that found it but I think it was more dumb luck!
Someone mentioned the Wayne manor phone to go with the bust and I had just been looking at the phone on the show and poked around until I found it!
Nope Lou, it predates the 500 series by about 10 years according to the 500 reference you posted which had the first 500 going out in 1959. There is no 500 markings on this at all.
It was made in Canada! The date on the phone is 1948.
All the phones on the show were cast red fiberglass which is what I'll be making. POSSIBLY the same translucent resin I cast the AW faces in. Depends on how bright I can get the castings...
So I'm looking at how much to add to the base. I'm thinking on making it the highest it was on the show so I can simply cut it down to the height the client wants.
It looks to me like adding 1.5 inches, two pieces of 3/4 " plywood looks pretty good.
I welcome fresh eyes and thoughts!!!

Re: Wayne manor Hot line phone
Hey Lou, It does look very close to the very first 500 phones with a few differences.
I think the "dish" face is a bit deeper on this one. It has smaller different shaped feet and the bottom metal plate is different but I would say this was probably the style right before the first 500...
