Jazz Inc Batcycle
Is the Jazz Inc. Batman movie 1966 Bat-cycle selling well? I’m just curious, as Joost doesn’t think that making 1/6 scale figures to occupy his 1966 Batmobile won’t sell. Not trying to offend anyone here….just scratching my head!
Also, any thoughts of someone doing a vignette of the set portion of the Batpoles as they enter the Batcave as a nice addition near the Batmobile?

I think the 66 crowd is shrinking compared to the other BATMAN variants, and he's got so many inputs (just follow the FB messenger threads) that he's focused on satisfying the largest audiences. You'll see Batman 89 has more interest, they've got Catwoman, and a new Penguin variant for the second movie. Likely a Batmissile is in the works, and there's a group pushing for 1/10 scale vehicles (I'd prefer 1/9).

They say prime disposable income usually ranges from 45-54-- so that would be the sweet spot for the '89 Batman-- in the chance you didn't catch Adam West in reruns-- you would have been 10-19 when the first Batman film came out. I myself was 23 and while I really liked seeing the darker version of Batman-- the rubber suit sequels really turned me away-- and eventually watching the Keaton film again after 15 or so years I felt like it didn't hold up at all.
But I can see why its more popular than Adams show.

I never got into any of the newer Batman iterations. For me, there is only one TV/movie Batman. I don’t have any other Batmobile or Batman collectibles unless I picked them up completely incidentally to buying a 1966 Batman lot.

Joost “Cut his Teeth” in this business by doing Star Wars vignettes. This appeared on the big screen in 1977, and I went to see it on a date. I loved as a child the 1966 Batman TV show, and to me….that is the quintessential Batman. My point here, is many of the same generation of people purchasing his Star Wars items, may have also purchased his 1966 Batmobile. I don’t that generation (Tail end of Baby Boomers) are out of the purchasing game. He sold many of the 1966 versions….he should not consider the 1966 Batman, or the 1977 Star Wars generation as a dwindling base just yet. It wholly depends on his choices of items from those versions to make. If one didn’t sell well (Batcycle maybe) it’s not that we’re dying off…it just might be lack of interest. Just guessing here.

Biff-
I hear ya-- I have a 10 year old neighbor that likes to stop by my studio every once in a while to see what I'm working on. One time he said, as he looked around at literally 100s of Batman items-- "don't you have any of the Black suited Batman's?" So we walked around and sure enough-- had none. The next time he was over he handed me a Robert Pattison Batman figure-- I didn't have the heart to tell him I wanted to walk out of that movie and I won't go to another Batman movie ever-- but that Batman figure stands with a display of other Batman items now.

Two things:
1. Completely agree on the new Batman film. Pattinson as Bruce Wayne looked (to me) like a heroin addict, and;
2. So thoughtful of you to honor that boy’s gift, despite how you felt about it. That’s a kind and gracious heart. Good show, Andy!
Re: Jazz Inc Batcycle
The Star Wars series continues to build often referencing the same characters, and more importantly, the actors reprise those roles, pulling in old and new fans. DC just doesn’t do that. I was always disappointed they didn’t have a spot for Adam, as Mayor or even as a secret agent in a commercial selling Nestle Quik when Joker interrupts the broadcast.

Ok, so it seems my original query on the 1966 Batcycle, or other items pertaining to the 1966 TV Batman theme has been a bit derailed. So, may I just leave this thread with a question since it seems that popular concession is that the current trend is the 1989 Batman movie, has Joost therefore moved away from the 1966 Batman all together…and will not be doing better Batman and Robin figures?

I sure hope not. Joost seems to be the last hope for the figures including the villains.

Greatlakes….couldnt agree more! It seemed promising when he showed the head sculpt from Chuck Williams….and although according to Chuck…there was no permission given, I thought it indicative of Joost’s intent? Let’s all keep our fingers crossed!

Re: Jazz Inc Batcycle
Star Wars, or specifically the original trilogy is viewed and collected at an entirely different level than Batman '66. No matter which way Joost goes with Star Wars products, as a collector of 1:6 scale figures, I know other manufacturers' Star Wars figures and dioramas are very big sellers (e.g. the recent reissue of Empire Strikes Back Luke Skywalker sold out just as fast as its predecessor). The advantage of original trilogy Star Wars 1:6 scale products is that part of the fanbase who collects cross Generation X and their successors--the ages of those old enough to have watched the films in theaters and the early home video releases (probably playing with the Kenner toys). There's still a good collector base among that generation, while the Batman '66 fanbase is not only much older and shrinking, but were not necessarily known to be a part of collector generation actively buying expensive 1:6 scale merchandise.Planejack777 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 27, 2024 3:15 pm Joost “Cut his Teeth” in this business by doing Star Wars vignettes. That said, when it comes to Batman, there's a reason the various figure and vehicle companies are still producing Batmen from the Keaton, Bale, and Affleck movies: there's a larger, stronger interest in those interpretations of the character, and there's not a stigma of being semi-comedic attached to their films, so some fan/collectors like buying what is perceived as serious adaptation of the character.
Perhaps that has some bearing on the decisions Jazz Inc is making regarding '66-based merchandise if the line slows down "in favor of" other Batman adaptations.

Very interesting. Well, slow down is one thing….never anything else, I sure hope not.
