I think that’s still the larger kit If you are talking about the Barry Ford post on Cultman. That's the 1/5 scale. I believe a 1/8 was to be released, but so far nothing.

Well, ol chums, I decided to bite the bullet and take on the Moebius Batman '66 model myself. The kit arrived today. The box was not in pristine condition, but all the parts were inside. I've separated all the parts from the sheets. Once I've bought some glue/cement, putty, primer and sandpaper, the real fun begins.

Wish me luck!

You should do a step by step for us, feel up to it? The head and chest emblem are likely toughest.

I plan on posting on my progress in stages. Right now I'm waiting for some materials (cement, putty, primer) that should arrive in a week or two before I can get started.

The waiting....the hardest part. As a kid I always rushed these models...

My progress thus far...
Screen Shot 2022-05-06 at 4.26.36 PM.png
So far the gluing together of parts has been pretty easy. The puttying and sanding of the seam lines, however, is very tedious, and I'm sure I would have a better time of it if I was more experienced as a model builder. At this point, I don't think I'm going to remove seam lines completely, and I'm only concentrating on the front of the legs, the front of the upper arms, the sides of the torso & trunks, and the bottom of the trunks.

At this point the parts are ready for priming, and I've already primed the face and mask. I'll need to pick up some paint brushes and also a gloss finish for the satin-y parts of the Bat costume. I've not completely made up my mind yet, but I think I'm going to go for black instead of trying to replicate the various blue/purple tones of the cowl, cape, gloves, etc. I will be painting the tights in a bluish grey.

I can’t recall if it is this forum or the older version, but someone posted the right paints for capes and tights. Also a flat spray on the cape and cowl will remove some gloss. Looking good so far!

Today I spent two hours on face time...

I'm no Picasso, but I gave it my best shot. Adam's eyes and the eyebrows and nose lining on the mask was very difficult for this 54-year-old who wears glasses and did all this on his front porch under the New Orleans sun. It wouldn't pass Dr. Faust's muster, but it's good enough to go up on my mantle when it's all done.

And here it is with the unprimed/unpainted cowl...

Well, I did my best.

I wanted to go all black for the cape, cowl, gloves, trunks and boots. I have always preferred Batman in black rather than the various shades of blue and purple from the comics and the show. I decided the forgo using the belt buckle sticker because it just looks like someone stuck a sticker on Batman's belt buckle. The chest symbol actually looks like someone slapped a sticker on Adam's chest on the show, so using the chest symbol sticker on the model is fine. I also decided to forgo using the rope and just have my Batman ready to bop some crook in the head with the Batarang.

I do apologize for not getting the eyebrows on the cowl right, but it was often wonky on the show itself. The bottom corners of the mask didn't quite cover the face when I placed it on the cowl, so I did a bit of touch-up with the black paint instead of trying to puttying-sanding and repainting as I was afraid I would really mess it up. This kit ended up looking like it could be the "missing link" between season 3 and "Legends of the Super Heroes".

The hardest bit of painting was the belt. It took several layers of yellow to cover the gray primer. I painted the rock to match the finish on the mantle this model now rests.

I enjoyed building this kit, but I will not be continuing with the other characters in the Moebius line. I was pretty confident I can build Batman, but the rest of the kits seem to be a bit too advanced for my skills. Plus my partner would kill me if I brought home any more model kits.

So Batman looked lonely up on my mantle, so I made him a companion.

Putting together the individual pieces (legs, arms, torso) is pretty easy. Attaching them all together is a different story. Had some trouble getting the cement to stick when attaching the legs to the torso. It took me a few hours to putty and sand all the seam lines.

The completed catsuit turned out well. I flicked silver paint off a toothbrush to render the sparkly sequined look.

Painting the face was the hardest part. Acrylics dry very quickly, and the details of the eyes and mouth are practically microscopic. She was always going to wear the mask, hence the Heath Ledger look around the eyes.

And how did the model turn out? Stay tuned to next post coming right up!

The gold paint wasn't applying well to the two cats, so I decided to instead paint them as our cats, Islington and Coraline, to the delight of my girlfriend.
