Good Point, Ian. I hadn't considered it from that point. You make lots of sense.

Awww, thank you! Any favourites?

I happened across a nifty three-tier spice rack stand - the last one left - in a local bargain store last night. Just what I needed to keep my "Batman" G.O.O.N.s organized.

Batman, Robin the Teen Titan and Commissioner Gordon. This is a smaller-sized "First Appearance" Robin, adapted with a yellow collar and spare pair of tights (which I had on hand from a retro Supergirl figure). Note newly-arrived Bat Shield, Batphone and bomb.

Batman and the Teen Titans (Kid Flash, Robin, Aqualad, Wondergirl and Speedy:

Kid Flash was a souvenir of my last visit to New York City ("Forbidden Planet") - I wasn't happy with the face detailing on any of the other Titans in stock, so I convinced myself I didn't need them. I recently ordered "First Appearance" Robin, and the other Teen Titans, loose from Figures Toy Co.'s online mail order facility, so the cost was much cheaper - and this time each figure was of excellent finish!

When my younger brother was collecting Mego superheroes in the 70s, we had no idea the "Teen Titans" figures were available (never saw them at retail Down Under), but as a big "New Titans" fan in the 80s, I was put off searching for these rarities when I realised they were so much smaller than the original 8" Mego Robin.

This "First Appearance" Robin by Figures Toy Co. is essentially the same size as the retro Titans (his head is slightly too large), but very happy to have these new figures in my collection. That wonderful sense of closure.

Now hoping, hoping, hoping that the two "Batman '66" Catwoman figures really do get made.

I'm afraid that I must agree with T-Bolt about Bat-Girl/Yvonne. It's high time for any and all the 8" "action figure"- ( read DOLL by any other name) to redo and accurize the figures. I'm NOT saying make the female doll figures bottom OR top heavy, mind You, just make the joints a bit more believable in the hips and derierre area.

Let's hear what YOU all think!!!! EH?

I strongly doubt that a whole new female body sculpt will happen at this point. Kinda defeats the purpose of making retro-Mego figures if you totally revamp the female bodies.

And my Batgirl wasn't "'a wreck". My Beach Babe Barbara needed some massage to function correctly, as explained elsewhere, but otherwise fine.

Hi Ian,
The whole retro idea, IMHO was a bad idea in the first place as "We" didn't know how to model an accurate human body action figure. As for myself, my Friend, I'd rather see an accurate body with an accurate uniform.

I well remember the huge excitement and anticipation when Art Asylum announced they were taking cutting-edge 3D imaging of Star Trek actors (from the "Star Trek Nemesis" movie and the "Enterprise" TV series) to produce lines of so-called "accurate" 7-inch action figures. Suddenly, though, the tide of opinion changed, and many fans began to yearn for the less-lifelike, shiny, 5- and 9- Playtrek figures that had come before. The 3D scans were strangely lifeless.

And part of the charm of the retro-Mego look of "Batman '66" figures is that they look like the kind of action figures we wanted from that TV series when Mego 8-inch figures first came on the market. No?

I held off as long as I could because of the price but I finally broke down and bought the Hot Toys figures.
