Corgi Toys Batmobile Restoration

Post by SaintsPreserveUs »

Picked up a beat up 1st issue 1966 Corgi Toys Batmobile on eBay recently. Tires (tyres) were crumbling, windshields were cracked, front suspension broken, chain slasher not working, antenna gone. Also... Someone had attempted to repaint it at some point. Here is the before picture....

So I did research and stumbled on two really good resources on the web... Free information on Corgi batmobiles and details for DIY restoration at http://www.batmobile.free.fr. Restoration part supplier Steve Flowers in the UK. (I think he must be near Londinium). http://www.model-supplies.co.uk.

I must say the restoration was fun and not too difficult to do. I opted to restore to the original flat black version.

Here it is...

Looks great. I've had one to restore for years, but never seem to find the time. I think I want to add the red stripes too. Maybe this Christmas...
