Batphone On A Budget

Post by Keith Mayo »

Broken phone, lid from can of nuts, tip of mini flashlight and two keychain split rings. Put them altogether and you have a $20 Batphone. I've included a photo of the $100 version for comparison.

You know, if you gave the nut can lid a solid coat of red so it all matches, it is actually a pretty good looking prop. The use of a can lid and split ring was a great idea without modifying the entire phone. I love the creativeness here. Nicely done.

Thanks for the compliment!
I used paint I had on hand but I'm looking for the right shade of red today. Disability income makes one inventive. :-)

I love your ingenuity. Your spirit is exactly what brought many of us to build props and costumes from the show. Since you're still tweaking it, here's a high-res pic of Gordon's phone to help with some of the details. It might make your life a lot easier, I hope!

Thanks!
This phone will sit on my desk next to a Shakespeare bust so I won't be using a cake dome.

Yeah, there's a slight color difference, but it still looks awesome, job well done

Walmart has Applebarrell acrylic paints for about a buck. Hobby Lobby has tons of shades for very little more. It will look even better. Again, great job. Lovin it here.

I may take your advice on the choice of paint. For now this is the final tweeked version.
Used a slightly larger lid this time.

Me too, but it didn't cover the holes very well.
