Chief O'Hara hat badge

Post by rsaffle »

I was digging around trying to figure out Chief O'Hara's hat badge and discovered it is a vintage New Jersey police badge from the 1930s. Thought I would share.

Does anybody have one?

I searched for that before, not sure I "pinned" it down to NJ..Nice detective work.
Here are some other images in case a 3D print is in the works.

I noticed other policemen on the show all had different badges, I'm guessing they just took whatever they had lying around

Here is a shot of Stafford Repp's son Chris wearing a uniform owned by his father. This outfit went up for auction in 2019. No doubt it was in his collection as there was a letter of ownership but the jacket was clearly not one used on screen during the series. A shot also of the auction photo. O'Hara's jacket (and all the other officers) did NOT have any visible upper pocket pockets.

Nothing stops you from searching out the fine prop and costuming details most have overlooked! Great work!

How I wish I could say 'yes', but then that would be a lie...
However, the badge is a real vintage police badge, not a repro
