Bat-Respirator Gas Mask Prop

Post by rsaffle »

Bat-Respirator Gas Mask used by Batman and Robin to protect themselves from the Riddler in the episodes ‘Smack in the Middle’ (102) and ‘Batman’s Anniversary’ (245), amongst others. Dimensions: 6'' x 4 ¾'' x 2¾''

This prop was a long process to recreate. When I first started it over a year ago my 3D design skills kept me from being able to pull it off. The mask part looks pretty simple but it took me around eight tries over that time period to finally get there. It is way easier to pull off the mechanical structures than the free formed organic nature of the face mask part...that combined with the fact it needed to fit my face. The whole thing is 3D printed except the hoses that are currently a Bungee cord painted chrome. I plan on replacing those with stainless braided line when I get it but I was eager to share what has become one of my favorites so far.

I also took this occasion to force my giant gray bearded head into my wonderful Williams's cowl. It doesn't fit me very well but I had to see it together.

My Bat prop #57 and counting.

We've been talking about it for a long time and I know the difficulties you ran into when you first tried replicating it, but it's been well worth the wait.
Your best work to date, or should I say my most favorite prop of all 57 props.
