My prop Batscanner with working lights.
My 1966 Batscanner built from scratch for a 1966 Batman themed Halloween party we threw in 2017. Randomly flasing vintage 1960s Christmas tree lights on the “Burroughs B205” and two vintage rotating Christmas tree “color wheels” (remember those?) were used to make actual sweeping “radar scanners.”
It was a fun party!
Just wanted to share.

Re: My prop Batscanner with working lights.
Thanks! It’s 45 inches tall and 41 inches across (excluding the Burroughs on top). I didn’t have any plans to go by, so I extrapolated dimensions using the beautiful 3-D printed Batcomputer that Todd /TMMello (a member here) made, and keeping in mind the sizes of my homemade “Burroughs” and my “radar screens.”Frank_The_Riddler wrote: ↑Sun Dec 04, 2022 4:46 pm Wow that’s talent !!! I originally used the Burroughs and radar sweeps for a “Lost in Space” Halloween party the year before. I made my version of the navigation console. Originally intended to have three Burroughs B205s, and made the face plates and installed the lenses/toggles/knobs for two more, but ran out of time and never finished the lights or metal cases.
I picked up the sign years ago on eBay, but I believe he may have been a member of this group as well. Seems like I remember someone showing their handiwork on here quite some time ago.

Wowsers! That's honestly one of the coolest things i've seen for a long time!
Can you tell us a little more about the building process? Materials etc? Judging by the phone, that has to be at least four feet tall if not more?

Re: My prop Batscanner with working lights.
Thanks, Ben! More than 4 foot with the fake Burroughs. About 57” tall total.
Really, mostly made of luan (wood paneling) and trim. Sanded and painted. Interior frame made primarily of 2”x2”s. The radar scope panels are made of thicker wood. I blew up images from the Azarian collection of the LiS scanners and what little notations regarding dimensions of the circumference of the openings to get the overall size of the black scopes and the locations of the knobs, switches and panel lamps. Tracked down vintage parts and some aluminum trim to finish.
The “cabinet” to the Burroughs was just metal flashing. Lightweight but gave it a great look.

Was it ChazBat you reached out to? He's a good friend of ours, i'm happy to reach out directly and see if he is still making the signs to order.Frank_The_Riddler wrote: ↑Tue Dec 06, 2022 4:22 pmthanks I tried to contact the sign maker but no reply back.
