The Black Beauty will be out as a 1:18 diecast

Its official! A 1:18 diecast is on the way to becoming a reality! The car was measured and photographed today and the first prototype will be out in about 9 months. It will be reviewed for accuracy and then all problems will be corrected and retooled. Auto Art is the company and they have a reputation of putting out very accurate pieces. There is no price point yet so no need to ask. There will most likely be limited edition versions and possibly signed ones.

I'm glad AutoArt is doing it and its the TV version of The Black Beauty.

I have several AutoArt diecasts, including the Aston Martin DB5 with weapons from the James Bond 007 film Goldfinger. They are very well made and very nicely detailed.

AUTOart is indeed a very well-known reputable diecast company based in Hong Kong since 1998.

We'll have to be patient to get our hands on one. From the creation of the prototype, to the actual final stage, is a slow process, but I'm certain it'll be well worth the wait to finally own an accurate little BB replica!

I'm so getting this. Can you tell me who will be signing it? Will it be Van Williams or the artist who designed the model?

I'm assuming the folks at AUTOart will be asking Mr Dean Jeffries (who originally designed/built both TV cars) and/or Mr Van Williams to sign a limited amount of model cars for sale.

As stated in the initial posts though, this is all in the planning stages. Realistically, the prototype model will probably not be ready for review until at least the summer of 2013 at the earliest.

I'm sure when all is said & done it will be cool-looking and neat to have in any 1:18 collection.

Guess us HORNET fans will have to be patient and keep watching this topic thread for any future updates/info.

I tried to email the folks at Autoart last week to see if they could update any of us on the progress of a 1/18th scale Black Beauty and did not even receive a reply...Is there anyone who knows anything about their progress? Here it is early June and I would like to think they could at least have a word or two, or maybe a prototype picture on their website! I stressed the timing of a summer release would coincide with other 66 Batman releases by the various licensees coming up soon. Anybody know anything more would be greatly appreciated...Thanks!
