1940s serial Gas gun prop

Post by rsaffle »

My take on the Green Hornet 1940 serial Gas gun. I modified an existing German Mauser pistol file that I found by adding the gas cannisters and barrel tip then 3D printed the whole thing. I don't think its a perfect match gun wise but I did everything I could to make the cannister match the origonal. I will give the file to anyone that wants it and will probably post it to Thingverse at a later date. Love to share!

I have several other projects, 66 gas gun, Hornet mask, gas mask and flashlight that I will post asap.

I think it looks amazing, with the correct classic feel it should have.
The paint job to make it look old and weathered is fantastic, it looks like it really did come from the 40s

Thank you. I debated if I should weather it or not but its more fun so I went for it.
The gun printed with a lot of weight so it feels good in the hand. Probably make a shadow box with graphics...something like my photo.

Really nice job! A shadowbox sounds perfect for this. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the TV show Gas Gun.

Thank you Ben. I'm very close on the 66 gas gun. I printed a test and it went great. It looks a lot like the Factory Entertainment version but I'm hung up trying to get the texture on the handle. Gas mask posting in the next few days. Appreciate your comments.

That is excellent work, and a very logical approach to the way the gas gun would appear functional.

Finally done with the filling, the sanding and priming! Now for the fun part...PAINTING! I'm playing with some color ideas since the original was only seen in black & white. Can't wait to see how it all comes out in the end.

Hi, Rsaffle! Yours look Danged REAL!!!!!!! I can believe that Bret Reid modified an 1896 Broom handle Mauser. I wish that the old serials could be colorized. That way You could tell if You got the color right on Yours. Personally, I think that You nailed it as far as the color goes. Well done, Sir, VERY well done!

By the way, where did You find the file for the 1896 Mauser as I'd like to get it and print out one for my collection because I can't afford a real one     . Thanks in advance, and as always... CHEERS, Ol' Chum!!!!

Looks cool. I considered buying a Mauser air pistol and some CO2 cartridges to see if I could cobble something like this together. Be nice if there was a 3D file with just the cartridge housing to attach to an existing 1896 model.

I can send you my file with the gun or possibly cut off the gun and just do the tanks for you if you want it. Not sure of the final size for a different gun but I can size it if you had any measurements. Whatever you need sir. See the link above for a great free Mauser file. Mine was a little rough and was the best file I could find at that time.
