Black Beauty model
I'm sure this may have been discussed at some point here on the board but I don't really recall(?) But does anyone here know whatever became of this scale model of The Black Beauty that was used in filming the show? Does anyone know if it survived the end of the show? And if so, does anyone know where it might be today? There is very little information on the web it seems and even fewer photos (aside from this one) out there.

Sorry to say I've never heard or read an account of what happened to that beautiful miniature after The Green Hornet was cancelled. I would like to believe Dozier claimed it, or perhaps it was given to George Trendle, since he co-created the characters. Then again, no matter how unique a prop or miniature was, in the 60s, it was not uncommon for the item to be tossed into studio storage, given away or trashed. A rare Dozier-related exception (for miniatures) was the Penguin's submarine from the Batman movie.

These large TV models were built by the people with Aurora Model Co. as part of a deal to later produce the 1:32 model kits in 1967. But only used in the rotating floor scenes. This patio wooden set was never used in the series as the real sets were filmed when the full size car made it's exit across the patio before exiting thru the billboard.

More pics.
I have some more but they are basically the same with slight angle differences.

Interesting that Aurora Plastics Corporation built the miniature, but their 1967 model kit was less than accurate in several details.

Wow Randy what a great photo collection. Thanks for sharing.
Re: Black Beauty model
I appreciate that Steve but I need to credit all the people on sites like this one that share and keep the fire going. I'm just another dude that spends tons of time image searching and reading.
Found these on a Facebook Hornet page.

That looks to be 1/8 to 1/10 scale, too small for 1/6 scale, too large for 1/12 scale.
Can you imagine flipping real cars over like that? Oil, gas and other fluids everywhere.
I never realized the BB had the same 127" wheelbase as the Batmobile. https://www.automobile-catalog.com/car/ ... -door.html says it is 129"

Re: Black Beauty model
So I did some math, let's see what you think.
Using the wheelbase as 129 inches
1/12 scale is 10-3/4"
1/10 scale is 12.9"
1/8 scale is 16-1/8"
Using the guy's finger as just over 3" long, I get a 1/10 scale model. My index finger is 3", his is likely longer. So it's not 1/8 scale, that's too big, but more likely 1/10, or about the scale of the 1966 Mustang from Mac-Tec back in the day..
What do you think. It's not perfectly scientific as we don't know the scale of items in the picture, and the hand is the closest thing to a scale. Anyone have an Imperial - or better yet, the BB#1 (V194). I tried to use the front door, but realized I didn't have the width or length of the door, nor the scale of the picture.
