How do I unstick a rolled photo-paper poster?

Post by twint9 »

I hope someone can help. I have an 11x17 signed photo that has been rolled in a tube for many years. I just tried to unroll it an it has stuck together in a few spots. It is printed on Kodak Endura paper.

Any ideas on what I can do to be able to unroll it without damaging the image?

Thanks!

I’ve heard of two of these methods: freezing and low setting hair dryer. Never tried them. Here’s the article:

Tubes are the enemy of the collectible!
Depending on what's causing the sticking (best case its the signature worst case its the print image itself), I agree with gentle heat-- but gradual gentle heat. Don't rush it, don't force it.

So I put it in the freezer and was able to gently pry it apart using a blunt letter opener. There was no paper loss but some discoloration on the photo where it had been stuck. Overall not too bad. Thanks for the suggestions!
