Pfeiffer Catwoman costume WIP.

Post by Hecate1966 »

I know there aren't many Tim Burton fans here but I'm quite pleased with how this is working out so I thought I'd share...

There's at least one other Tim Burton fan here ;)

Burton's not to be dissed. Just society had changed that's all.

My second attempt at the claws. Not very screen accurate at all because I didn't want to use anything actually pointy or sharp in them (so as to be con-safe). A bit of fine-tuning still to do but I think they have something of the spirit of the movie costume about them.

I tweeked the claws a little and changed the gloves from spandex to vinyl. I think I'm happy with them now.

A quick progress update. That the corset has a busk-front is a concession to practicality.

Thanks to all for the supportive comments :D Unfortunately the costume's not progressing much at the moment as the cowl, boots and whip are all on long back-orders. I'm working on a prop tazer though.

The boots should be the first to arrive, these are the ones I've ordered with a couple of reference screen shots of Michelle's:

I'm a Burton fan. I think he did a great job and love his Batman world.

The suit looks great! Definately think you made the right choice with swapping from spandex to vinyl for the gloves. They look much more screen accurate.

You might think that elbow-length vinyl gloves would be easy to find on ebay or the like but I can assure you they're not. Eventually I ended up buying opera-length ones and cutting them down. All I'll say is that I soon discovered PVC-coated fabric is an absolute pain to sew.

'No pain, no gain, as they say. The costume is looking great.

How many hours have gone into it so far?
